CHRP Exam in Saudi Arabia: Format, Test Centers and How to Book
Read this guide in Arabic: اقرأ بالعربية
The word exam does a lot of heavy lifting in HR certification, and it means very different things depending on which credential you are chasing. The CHRP exam in Saudi Arabia does not mean a test center appointment booked months ahead through a global testing network. It means an assessment at the end of your program, run by the academy that trained you. That difference shapes everything else on this page, including how you book and what can go wrong.
If you have not registered yet, our article on CHRP requirements and eligibility in Saudi Arabia covers who can join and what documents you need.

The Certified Human Resource Professional program is designed, delivered and assessed by Blue Ocean Academy. There is no external examining body sitting behind it, so there is no separate exam registration, no eligibility ID to enter on a testing portal and no waiting window between finishing the course and sitting the paper. You are assessed as part of the program and the certificate follows.
We do not publish a fixed question count, a time limit or a pass mark, and you should be wary of any site that quotes you one. The format is confirmed by your trainer at the start of the program, and it can differ slightly between a classroom cohort in Riyadh and a live online group. Ask on day one and write the answer in your notes. Candidates who ask are never the ones who get surprised.
What stays constant is the emphasis. The assessment follows the material you worked through in class, and the course is built around exercises, case studies and group work rather than memorization. If you engaged with the case work, the assessment is a fair reflection of what you did. If you sat quietly at the back for the whole program, it will show.
What the questions are actually about
The subject range mirrors the core HR functions the program covers. Expect to be tested across the ground you walked in class.
- Workforce planning, job analysis and the structure of an HR function.
- Recruitment, selection and onboarding, including practical hiring judgment rather than theory alone.
- Performance management, learning and development, and career progression.
- Compensation and benefits fundamentals, plus employee relations and grievance handling.
- The basics of applying policy correctly in a Saudi workplace, and reading HR data well enough to answer a management question.
A pattern we see in Saudi cohorts is worth flagging. People who have run HR operations for years sometimes answer from local habit rather than from the framework taught in the program. Both can be right in practice, but the assessment is checking that you can apply the taught approach. Answer with the model, then add the local reality if the question invites it.
Where you sit the CHRP exam in Saudi Arabia
There is no CHRP test center to search for, because the assessment travels with the program. In practice that means one of two places for candidates in the Kingdom. Classroom cohorts sit the assessment in the training venue, which for us means Riyadh, Jeddah or Al Khobar depending on the batch you booked. Live online cohorts complete it online, in the same session structure the class has been using all along.
This is genuinely convenient for people on rotation at the giga projects or at industrial sites in the Eastern Province, where getting to a fixed test center on a fixed date is the hard part. It also means the assessment date is the last day of your batch, so you know it the moment you register.
It is worth understanding the trade off, because your employer may care about it. Credentials examined by an outside body, such as PHRi, are sat at independent test centers under third party proctoring, and some organizations specifically want that independence on a CV. Our comparison of CHRP and PHRi for Saudi professionals works through which situation suits which route.
How to book the CHRP exam, step by step
This is the part people overthink. There is nothing to schedule separately, so the whole booking task is choosing the right cohort.
- Choose your city and format. Riyadh, Jeddah and Al Khobar for classroom, or live online if travel or shift patterns get in the way.
- Check the batch dates against your work calendar, and specifically against payroll cutoff, year end and any ministry reporting deadline your team owns.
- Confirm the fee and what it includes. Our CHRP cost breakdown for Saudi Arabia sets out the full budget, including what to ask about reassessment.
- Register with the name exactly as printed on your ID, because that name goes on the certificate and it is slow to change afterwards.
- Ask the trainer about the assessment format on day one, then plan your revision around the case work rather than around the clock.
Candidates in the capital can find local schedule detail on our CHRP course in Riyadh page.
What ID do you need on assessment day
Bring the ID you registered with, whether that is your Iqama, national ID or passport. Names that do not match cause certificate corrections later, which is a slow email chain nobody enjoys.
Arrive earlier than you think you need to. Riyadh traffic on a working morning and the security queue at a hotel or corporate venue have derailed more candidates than any exam question ever has. For live online cohorts the equivalent is your connection and your device: test the setup the day before, not five minutes before, and have a phone hotspot ready in case the office network decides that afternoon is the time for a firewall update.
Keep your class notes and any case material you were told you may use. Ask in advance what is permitted, rather than assuming that what a colleague did last year still applies.
What to do if you miss the day or do not pass
Life in the Kingdom moves fast and a project emergency can eat a training day. Tell the coordinator as early as you can, because the options are much better before the batch closes than after it. Depending on the schedule you may be able to complete the assessment with a later cohort.
We do not publish a reassessment policy or fee, so ask at registration and get the reply in writing. That is the single most useful five minutes of admin you can do, and almost nobody does it.
The better plan is to make the whole question academic. The candidates who breeze through are the ones who did the pre reading, took the case work seriously and reviewed their notes the same week rather than the night before. Our study plan for passing the CHRP assessment on the first attempt lays out how to spread that across the weeks around your batch, which is easier than it sounds when you already work in HR.
Frequently asked questions
Is the CHRP exam held at Pearson VUE or Prometric test centers in Saudi Arabia?
No. CHRP is designed and assessed by Blue Ocean Academy, so the assessment is delivered as part of the program rather than at an independent testing network. Classroom cohorts sit it at the training venue in Riyadh, Jeddah or Al Khobar, and live online cohorts complete it online. If your employer specifically wants an externally proctored exam, look at a credential examined by an outside body instead.
How many questions are in the CHRP exam and what is the pass mark?
We do not publish a fixed question count or pass mark, and any website quoting you one is guessing. Your trainer confirms the format for your cohort at the start of the program. Prepare by working through the case studies and exercises rather than by hunting for a magic number.
Can I take the CHRP assessment online from Riyadh or a remote project site?
Yes, if you join a live online cohort the assessment is completed online in the same environment you trained in. That suits rotation schedules at the giga projects and staff at industrial sites in the Eastern Province. Test your device and connection the day before, and keep a mobile hotspot ready as a backup.
What ID do I need on CHRP assessment day?
Bring the identification you registered with: your Iqama, national ID or passport. The name on that document should match your registration exactly, because it is the name printed on your certificate. Correcting a certificate afterwards takes time that a two minute check at registration would have saved.
What happens if I miss the assessment or do not pass it?
Tell your program coordinator as early as possible, because moving to a later cohort is far easier to arrange before your batch finishes. There is no published reassessment fee, so ask at registration and keep the written answer. In practice most people who did the case work during the program are fine.
