Certified Office Manager Certification Cost in Saudi Arabia: Exam Fees, Training and Total Budget

Read this guide in Arabic: اقرأ بالعربية

Money is the first question and almost nobody asks it plainly. People send us long messages about modules and formats when what they really want to know is what the whole thing will cost by the time they hold the certificate. So here it is, with the parts most training pages quietly skip.

One caution before the numbers. Prices move, regional pricing differs, and everything below reflects what was listed at the time of writing. Treat it as a planning figure and confirm your own quote before you commit anything to a budget line.

The headline number

At the time of writing, the Certified Office Manager program is listed at approximately USD 1,199, which works out to roughly SAR 4,500 at the pegged rate of about 3.75 riyals to the dollar. The Certified Office Administrator program sits at the same listed level, which surprises people who assume the entry level credential is cheaper.

That single figure is doing more work than it looks like. Unlike most professional certifications, there is no separate application fee, no membership subscription and no test center booking on top. The COM certification is issued by ACI, the American Certification Institute, and it is earned through the program itself rather than through a standalone exam you register for independently.

What the fee covers, and what it does not

Covered in the listed price:

  • The full training program across the seven COM modules, from the role of the office manager through protocol, visitor handling, productivity, organizational skills, confidentiality and going the extra mile.
  • Course materials and the in class exercises, case work and assessments used through the sessions.
  • The end of program assessment, which Blue Ocean Academy runs directly rather than sending you to an external test center.
  • Issue of the certification once you complete and pass.

Not covered, and worth planning for: value added tax where it applies to your invoice, travel and accommodation if you attend in a city other than your own, the working days you spend in class, and any short program you add alongside.

The costs people forget

VAT is the big one. Saudi Arabia applies value added tax at 15 percent, and training services are generally standard rated. On a SAR 4,500 program that is roughly SAR 675 more, so always ask whether a quote you are given is inclusive or exclusive before you take it to finance. We have watched more than one approval bounce back over exactly that gap.

Time is the second. Three or four working days out of a busy office has a real cost, especially if you are the person who keeps the calendar running. Candidates in Jeddah and Al Khobar often solve this by taking the live online cohort in the evenings instead of traveling to Riyadh, which removes flights, hotel and half the disruption in one decision.

Retakes are the third, and here we will be honest with you rather than make something up. We could not find a published retake fee for COM. Ask about it before you enroll, not after, and get the answer in writing on your quotation.

How to get it paid for

Most of our Riyadh candidates never pay personally, and the ones who do usually just asked at the wrong time of year. Saudi training budgets are annual and committed early, so the request that lands in the first quarter gets approved and the one that lands in the fourth quarter gets deferred to next year.

What works in a request: tie it to something the department already committed to. Records control ahead of an audit, meeting governance for a new board, service standards under a Vision 2030 transformation program, or simply the fact that Saudization targets mean the department needs its national staff formally qualified. What does not work is asking for personal development in the abstract. Group enrollment also gets you a better rate, so if three people in your administration team need it, ask together.

If the central training budget is genuinely gone for the year, go one level down before you give up. Administration, HR and operations departments in Saudi organizations often hold a small development line of their own that never gets fully spent, and one seat sits comfortably inside it. A head of department can sign that off in a meeting, where a corporate committee would take a quarter to reach the same answer.

If the answer really is no until next year, plan around it instead of dropping the idea. Two things work. Ask our advisors about splitting the fee into instalments arranged around the cohort dates, which turns one uncomfortable number into something a personal budget can carry. Or book a cohort that falls after the new budget year opens, get the fee confirmed in writing now so nothing shifts under you, and put the request in during the first quarter while the money is still uncommitted.

Is it worth the number?

That depends on where you are and what you earn now, which is why we wrote a separate honest piece on whether COM is worth it in Saudi Arabia and a breakdown of what certified office managers earn across the Kingdom. The quick version: at roughly one month of a mid level administrative salary, the cost is recovered inside a year if it moves you one grade, and never recovered at all if you take it without changing anything about how you present yourself afterwards. If you are in the capital and want the local schedule and formats, our Certified Office Manager course in Riyadh page has the practical detail.

Frequently asked questions

How much does Certified Office Manager certification cost in Saudi Arabia?

At the time of writing the program is listed at approximately USD 1,199, which is roughly SAR 4,500 at the pegged exchange rate. Add 15 percent VAT where it applies and most candidates plan for SAR 5,000 to SAR 5,500 in total. Regional and corporate pricing can differ, so confirm your own quote.

Is there a separate exam fee for COM?

No separate exam fee is published. The assessment happens at the end of the program and Blue Ocean Academy runs it directly, so there is no external test center booking and no registration charge on top of the program fee.

Do I have to pay an ACI membership fee?

No membership subscription is published as a requirement for the COM certification. This is one of the practical differences between ACI style credentials and membership based certifications, where an annual subscription usually sits alongside the exam fee.

Is there a group rate if several of us enroll together?

Yes. Group enrollment normally attracts a better rate per person, and with enough people we can run the program in house at your own offices, which takes travel out of the budget completely. If three or more people in your administration team need the certification, ask together rather than one at a time, and ask before anyone registers individually.

Is there an annual renewal or recertification fee?

We could not find a published recertification fee for COM, so we will not quote one. Ask us or the awarding body directly before you assume the certificate carries no ongoing cost, and get the answer in writing alongside your quotation.

Is Certified Office Administrator cheaper than Certified Office Manager?

At the time of writing both programs are listed at the same level, around USD 1,199. So choose between them on level and content rather than price. COA is the better first step if you have under a year of office responsibility, while COM suits people already carrying supervisory or executive support duties.
