CLTD stands for Certified in Logistics, Transportation and Distribution. ASCM, formerly known as APICS, awards the credential.
The credential covers logistics overview and strategy, capacity planning and demand management, order management, inventory and warehouse management, transportation, global logistics, logistics network design, and reverse logistics and sustainability. Once you hold it, ASCM's maintenance rule is 75 points every 5 years.

- Freight forwarding: Certified Shipping and Freight Forwarding Professional (IPSCMI, USD 1,199 live online).
- Warehouse and stores: Certified International Warehouse and Inventory Manager (IPSCMI), which lists about 46 hours of study. Ask an advisor which format is available.

What are the CLTD eligibility rules?
ASCM accepts three years of related business experience, or a bachelor's degree, or an active approved certification. One of the three is enough.

Can an existing certification count toward CLTD eligibility?
An active approved certification, as ASCM defines it, is one of the three routes, alongside three years of related business experience and a bachelor's degree.
Ask ASCM which certifications it treats as approved, because the list is ASCM's to set and can change. If you hold a certificate that ASCM does not list, the experience route or the degree route may still apply to you. Write down your start dates and job titles now, so you have them to hand. Ask ASCM if you are unsure which route fits your record.
How does the CLTD exam work?
The exam has 150 questions and lasts 3.5 hours. Scores are scaled from 200 to 350, and the pass mark is 300.
Pearson VUE delivers it at a test center or online proctored. Use the ASCM and Pearson VUE locator to see what is available when you book, since availability can change. Plan for a long single sitting: 3.5 hours is long enough that you should practice answering questions in blocks of that length.
How should you prepare for the CLTD exam?
Prepare in timed blocks and work through the eight content areas one at a time. The exam is 150 questions in a single 3.5 hour sitting.
- List the eight content areas and mark the ones you meet least in your current job.
- Give the marked areas the most study time, and keep a short note of questions you could not answer.
- Choose test center or online proctored early, then rehearse in that setting.
- Ask an advisor how the live online sessions are scheduled so you can plan around your working week.
Once you pass, ASCM asks you to keep the credential current with 75 points every 5 years. Ask ASCM which activities earn points.
