Is CLTD certification worth considering for a role in Kuwait?
It is worth considering if your daily work is logistics, transportation or distribution. It is a weak match if your work is mostly purchasing.
Kuwait's logistics work has a visible structure. Kuwait Ports Authority runs three ports: Shuwaikh as the main commercial port, Shuaiba as the main industrial port, and a third as a regional commercial port. If you plan cargo moves, manage a warehouse that serves a port or coordinate freight, transportation, global logistics and inventory are CLTD exam topics. Check the content list before you pay, and compare it with your own job description.
Which program fits your role?
Choose by what you do most days. Moving and storing goods points to CLTD. Buying and sourcing points to Certified Supply Chain Professional.

What do Kuwaitization measures mean for training?
Kuwait Times reported that Kuwaitization measures announced in August 2025 include specialised training programmes.
If you are Kuwaiti, ask the Public Authority for Manpower whether those programs apply to you. The CLTD credential rules come from ASCM and not from these measures.
What are the CLTD eligibility rules?
ASCM accepts three years of related business experience, or a bachelor's degree, or an active approved certification. One of the three is enough.
ASCM can change these rules, so check the current wording on the ASCM site. If none applies yet, ask an advisor which program in the guide above fits, and return to CLTD later.
What does the CLTD exam involve?
The exam has 150 questions and lasts 3.5 hours. Scores are scaled from 200 to 350, and the pass mark is 300.
Pearson VUE delivers it at a test center or online proctored. Use the ASCM and Pearson VUE locator to see what is available to you from Kuwait when you book. The content areas are:
- Logistics overview and strategy
- Capacity planning and demand management
- Order management
- Inventory and warehouse management
- Transportation
- Global logistics
- Logistics network design
- Reverse logistics and sustainability
To keep the credential, ASCM's rule is 75 points every 5 years.
How do you prepare for the 3.5 hour sitting?
Practice in timed blocks and spend your study time on the content areas you meet least at work. The exam is 150 questions in one 3.5 hour sitting.
- A warehouse supervisor should expect to spend more time on transportation, global logistics and logistics network design.
- A freight or transport coordinator should expect to spend more time on inventory and warehouse management, and on capacity planning and demand management.
- A planner who has never handled returns should read the reverse logistics and sustainability area early, because it is easy to leave to the end.
Choose between a test center and online proctored early, and rehearse in the same setting. Ask an advisor how the live online sessions are scheduled so you can fit them around your working week.
