The short answer
If you work anywhere in the supply chain and want the single most widely specified end-to-end credential, CSCP is it, and since December 2022 nothing stops you sitting the exam except your own preparation. The exam is one sitting of 150 questions. Preparation with us is live online from India, the exam is sat at Pearson VUE or from home, and the designation lasts five years at a time.
What CSCP is
The APICS CSCP covers the supply chain from suppliers' suppliers to customers' customers: design, planning and execution, and improvement and best practice. Our course follows that structure in three parts, Supply Chain Design, Supply Chain Planning and Execution, and Supply Chain Improvement and Best Practices, and builds in end-to-end management principles, procurement and sourcing, logistics and transportation, inventory and warehousing, and planning and coordination. It is pitched at professionals rather than students: ASCM's materials assume you can recognise the processes they describe from your own work.
Eligibility: the change most pages have not caught up with
Older Indian pages still say CSCP requires three years of related experience, or a bachelor's degree, or another APICS designation. That was the rule before December 2022. ASCM's own Exam Content Manual states: "To continuously improve ASCM certifications and encourage all interested learners to earn their designation, ASCM eliminated the eligibility requirement for the CSCP certification program. This change took effect on December 2, 2022. Candidates may continue their certification journey without submitting an eligibility application or waiting for approval."
So there is no application to be approved, no experience form, no degree check. There is, however, a practical eligibility: the exam is hard for people with no supply chain exposure, and we say so to candidates before they pay. If you are new to the field, read who can enrol in supply chain courses in India and consider starting with a fundamentals programme.
The exam
ASCM describes it as "Pass one exam covering eight modules of content within 3.5 hours", with "150 questions, with an exam score range of 200-350. Scores above 300 are passing." The exam is "administered via computer-based testing at PearsonVue test centers worldwide, and online through OnVUE system". In India that means a Pearson VUE centre in Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Pune, Kolkata, Kochi or another city, or your own desk with a webcam under remote proctoring. Seat availability for a date appears only when you schedule, so nobody can promise you a named centre.
You schedule the exam yourself through ASCM's exam process once you have purchased it; we help you time it against your preparation.
What it costs, and who you pay
Two separate payments are involved, and conflating them is how "CSCP cost in India" articles mislead. ASCM's fees, for the learning system and the exam, are set by ASCM in US dollars, differ for ASCM members and non-members, and change. Our tuition for the preparation course is shown in Indian rupees on the course page for visitors in India. We do not print a combined figure here because ASCM's part changes without notice; the advisor will give you the current total in writing.
Preparation in India
Our CSCP course runs live online in cohorts, with recordings, instructor-led coverage of the ASCM learning system, practice questions and timed mock exams, and a self-paced study option for people whose weeks are unpredictable. Classroom sessions are arranged through our New Delhi, Noida, Pune, Hyderabad and Kochi centres when a cohort justifies it; ask the advisor rather than assuming a batch, and note that we do not have premises in Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai or Kolkata. Companies can run CSCP preparation in-house for planning and operations teams; see corporate training in India.
Maintaining the designation
ASCM's maintenance handbook: "Certification holders are required to maintain their certification every five years." CSCP needs 75 maintenance points per cycle, earned through professional development, education, presentations and similar activities. If you do not maintain it, the certification is "placed in suspended status" with 90 days to submit, and "if an individual does not maintain their certification, they lose their certification and will be required to retake and pass all necessary exams again." Holders aged 62 or over with a current certification can convert to lifetime status by writing to ASCM. Plan the 75 points from the start; it is the part most people forget.
CSCP, CPIM or CLTD?
CSCP is the breadth credential. CPIM goes deep on planning, scheduling and inventory and suits planners; since June 2026 it is also a single exam. CLTD covers logistics, transportation and distribution and suits warehouse, transport and 3PL managers. All three are 150 questions in 3.5 hours with 75-point maintenance; the difference is scope. Our supply chain certification comparison takes the choice apart by role, and the CPIM and CLTD explainers cover the other two.
Who it suits in India
Supply chain and operations managers in manufacturing, pharma, FMCG, retail, e-commerce and 3PL; planners and procurement or logistics leads moving into end-to-end roles; consultants; and functional managers in companies that specify APICS credentials in job descriptions, which Indian multinationals and large domestic groups increasingly do. It suits less well people with under two years in the field, who will find the material abstract, and specialists who will spend their careers inside planning or logistics, for whom CPIM or CLTD is the better fit.
