What does the PMP exam involve for someone working in Qatar?
The PMP exam has 180 questions and runs 240 minutes, with two optional 10 minute breaks. Book a time when you are off shift, because the sitting runs 240 minutes.
PMI's July 2026 domain weights are People 33%, Process 41% and Business Environment 26%. About 60% of items are adaptive, agile or hybrid, and question styles include multiple choice, multiple response, matching, hotspot and fill in blank. PMI does not publish the passing score, which it reports on a proficiency scale.

Do you qualify for PMP certification in Qatar?
PMI decides eligibility, and it asks for project leadership experience from the last 10 years. The months depend on education: PMI lists four paths of 60, 48, 36 or 24 months, for example 36 months with a bachelor's degree and 60 months with a secondary diploma.
You also need 35 contact hours of project management education. An active CAPM waives them. PMI can change these rules, so confirm them on its site before you apply.
- You coordinate packages on public buildings or roads. Ashghal, the Public Works Authority, was established in 2004 to design, build, deliver and manage Qatar's infrastructure and public buildings. PMI counts months spent running projects, so count the months you directed the work, not the months you supported it.
- You are Qatari. Law No. 12 of 2024 requires private sector employers to train Qatari staff, so ask HR whether a PMP course can go into your training plan.
- You hold an active CAPM. The 35 contact hours are waived.
