What Is the APICS CTSC? The Certified in Transformation for Supply Chain Guide
Most supply chain credentials certify that you can run a supply chain. The APICS Certified in Transformation for Supply Chain (CTSC) certifies that you can change one. ASCM positions it as the credential for professionals who "diagnose, design, and implement end to end supply chain transformations", bridging "the gap between high level strategy and technical execution" so an organisation stays "agile, sustainable, and competitive in a digital first world."
What makes CTSC different
The CTSC is built on ASCM's own global standards: the SCOR Digital Standard (SCOR DS) for process blueprinting, the ASCM Enterprise Standards for Sustainability, and the ASCM Digital Capabilities Model (DCM). Holders are, in ASCM's words, better equipped to drive strategic change, lead digital innovation, navigate Industry 4.0, optimise value chains using SCOR DS, and ensure sustainable growth.
Who it is for
ASCM's target responsibilities: identifying risks and opportunities and selecting the right frameworks and models for transformation; applying systems thinking to develop and validate concept alternatives; managing the skills, roles and infrastructure a transformation needs; identifying enabling tools and technologies; reinforcing and replicating improvements; delivering key implementation deliverables; and improving overall operations performance. Nearly three quarters of the exam sits in the overview and preparation modules, the diagnostic and design work that determines whether a transformation succeeds before execution begins.
The exam, cost and maintenance
You pass a single computer based exam of 150 questions (130 scored plus 20 unscored pretest items) in 3.5 hours, scored on a 200 to 350 scale with 300 the pass mark, taken at a Pearson VUE test centre or online through OnVUE. No formal prerequisites are stated. The CTSC is sold as a bundle (Learning System, exam voucher, 2nd Chance Exam, books, online tools and ECM) at $2,275 for members with the certification upgrade and $3,175 for others; ASCM offers a free 30 day preview of the "Define and Classify Types of Supply Chains" module. To keep the credential you submit 75 professional development maintenance points every five years (100 for Fellow level holders); certifications not maintained are suspended, then expire after a 90 day grace period.
