This hub brings together our guides on the Certified in Planning and Inventory Management (CPIM) credential for professionals in Saudi Arabia. CPIM is issued by ASCM (formerly APICS) and, since the 2023 update to version 8.0, it is a single exam covering supply chain strategy, demand, sales and operations planning, master scheduling, MRP, capacity, inventory, distribution, quality and continuous improvement, and technology.
It suits planners, schedulers, inventory controllers, buyers and production staff in factories, distribution centers and retail operations across the Kingdom. There is no formal eligibility requirement, although some experience helps. The exam has 150 questions in 3.5 hours, scored on a 200 to 350 scale with 300 as the pass mark, and you can sit it at a Pearson VUE center or online. The Learning System plus exam bundle sits roughly in the USD 1,700 to 2,000 range at the time of writing, with member discounts, so check ascm.org before you budget.
Below you will find guides on requirements, cost, the exam, salary, study planning, practice questions and renewal, alongside our CPIM course, which runs in Riyadh, Jeddah, Al Khobar and live online.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need experience to sit the CPIM exam?
There is no formal requirement. ASCM recommends some experience in planning, inventory or operations because the questions are applied, but graduates and career changers do pass with a structured study plan and enough practice questions.
Is CPIM one exam or two?
One. Since the version 8.0 update in 2023 the older two part structure was replaced by a single 150 question, 3.5 hour exam covering the full body of knowledge.
What does CPIM cost in Saudi Arabia?
The Learning System bundled with the exam is roughly USD 1,700 to 2,000 at the time of writing, less with ASCM membership, plus a retake fee if needed and tuition if you take a class. Please verify current prices on ascm.org.
How is CPIM maintained?
Earn 75 maintenance points every five years through approved professional development, or retake the exam. Our renewal guide explains what counts and when to submit.
