It is a Lean and 6 Sigma tool. Kaizen Event is used to solve a particular problem and 5S is used for Work Place Organization “everything has a place and everything in its place”.Program Outline
Kaizen Event Criteria:
- Eliminate process villages with cells
- Combine operations for continuous flow
- Reduce setup times
- Reduce lot sizes
- Determine proper tooling needed and organize
- Visual factory
- Establish new metrics
- Establish supermarket
- Load level schedule
- Increase or decrease production based on new Takt time
- Safety improvements
- Maintenance programs or machine overhauls
- Process improvement
5S Focus:
- No time wasted looking for things
- Increase in quality
- Increase in productivity
- Cleaner and safer workplace
- Reduction in required floor space
- Customers and visitors are impressed
