CISCP vs CSCP in Egypt: Which Supply Chain Certification Should You Choose?
Read this guide in Arabic: اقرأ بالعربية
This is the question we hear most in our New Cairo office from anyone who has done their homework: CISCP or CSCP? Both are international supply chain certifications. Both appear in Egyptian and Gulf job postings. And they are priced so differently in EGP that the choice is rarely about which is “better”. It is about which one fits your stage, your budget and who is paying.
Two bodies, two philosophies
The Certified International Supply Chain Professional (CISCP) is issued by the International Purchasing and Supply Chain Management Institute (IPSCMI) in the United States. It is Level 1 of the institute's supply chain series, with the Certified International Supply Chain Manager (CISCM) as Level 2. In Egypt we deliver it through our Certified International Supply Chain Professional program, and the exam is administered through Blue Ocean Academy at the end of the program.
The Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) comes from ASCM, the Association for Supply Chain Management, formerly known as APICS. It is a single, large exam built around ASCM's own learning system and sat at a Pearson VUE test center or online through OnVUE. We offer it too, as our Certified Supply Chain Professional program.

| Study load | About 48 hours of instruction across 16 modules plus revision | Eight module learning system; most candidates report well over 100 hours of self study |
| Cost in EGP at the time of writing | EGP 35,699 self paced (standard EGP 45,899, discounted) or EGP 45,900 live online or classroom, exam and certification included | EGP 185,500 live online or classroom with us, exam and certification fee included; if you self study, ASCM's own learning system, exam and second chance bundle is roughly USD 2,620 to 3,650, about EGP 131,000 to 182,500 at roughly 50 EGP per USD, before any tuition |
| Renewal | IPSCMI recertification, rules on its website | ASCM maintenance points on a five year cycle plus a maintenance fee |
| Recognition in Egypt | Known in procurement, logistics, free zones and bank vendor management | Strongest name recognition in multinational manufacturing and planning |
| Recognition in the Gulf | Widely held by Egyptians in Gulf trading and logistics roles | Frequently named in multinational and planning job descriptions |
| Best for | Self funded specialists, procurement and logistics staff, Gulf applicants on a budget | Employer sponsored candidates, planners in multinational manufacturing |
Eligibility compared
IPSCMI keeps a gate: an associate degree or equivalent, or more than three years of purchasing or supply chain experience. For most Egyptians with a bachelor's degree or a technical institute diploma this is a formality, and our requirements guide covers the edge cases. ASCM, at the time of writing, does not list a degree or experience requirement on its CSCP page; the old rule of a bachelor's degree, three years of experience or another APICS certification has gone from that page. Do check it again before relying on this, because ASCM revises its policies by cycle.
In practice the gate is not the barrier. The barrier is the exam.
The exam experience
CISCP's 80 questions in three hours, sat at the end of a 48 hour program with the people you studied with, is a manageable experience. Candidates who attend fully and work through the practice assessments generally feel prepared. CSCP's 150 questions in 3.5 hours at a Pearson VUE center in Cairo or over OnVUE with a webcam is a different kind of test: broader, more scenario based, and scored on a scale where 300 of 350 is the line. Egyptians who pass it tell us the hardest part was the months of self study beside a full time job, not the day itself. Budget for a retake in your head; ASCM's bundle includes a second chance exam for exactly this reason.
Cost in EGP, the deciding factor
Here is the arithmetic that settles most conversations in our office. CISCP through us is EGP 35,699 self paced or EGP 45,900 live online or classroom, exam included, at the time of writing. CSCP through us is EGP 185,500, also with the exam included, and even going directly to ASCM the learning system, exam and second chance bundle lists at roughly USD 2,620 for members with the certification upgrade and USD 3,650 for nonmembers, which at roughly 50 EGP per USD is about EGP 131,000 to 182,500 before you have paid anyone to teach you. A retake alone shows at around USD 500, about EGP 25,000, and the membership upgrade is a further USD 199 a year.
For an Egyptian on EGP 30,000 a month paying from savings, CSCP is six months of gross salary. CISCP is six weeks. That is why self funded candidates in Cairo so often choose CISCP, then add CISCM, and leave CSCP for the day an employer pays. Our CISCP cost guide has the full budget table.
Recognition in Egypt and the Gulf
We will not pretend they are equal here. CSCP carries the older and louder brand, especially in multinational manufacturing, planning and consulting. If your target is a demand planning role at a global FMCG head office, CSCP is the one the hiring manager grew up with. CISCP is strong where procurement, trade and logistics live: forwarders, free zone operators in Ain Sokhna and East Port Said, construction groups, importers, and the vendor management units of CIB, NBE and Banque Misr. In the Gulf, both appear constantly on Egyptian CVs; recruiters there filter for “certified” more than for a specific acronym at the first screen, and the interview then tests whether you can actually explain Incoterms and a safety stock calculation.
Our recommendation by career stage
- 0 to 2 years, or still studying. Neither yet. Take our free Supply Chain Management Fundamentals course, get into a real role, and return with experience.
- 3 to 7 years, self funded. CISCP. The cost in EGP, the exam at the end of the program and the path to CISCM make it the rational choice. Revisit CSCP when an employer offers to pay.
- 3 to 7 years, employer sponsored at a multinational. CSCP, if your employer's planning culture is built around ASCM. If you are in procurement or logistics rather than planning, CISCP plus CISCM may still serve you better for the same budget.
- Managers and heads of function. CISCM, possibly as a combined fast track with CISCP, or CSCP if the brand matters at your level and the company pays.
- Preparing for a Gulf move. Whichever you can complete before you leave. For most people that is CISCP, done in Cairo in EGP, with CISCM to follow.
Whichever way you lean, do it with current facts. Both institutes change fees and rules, and so do we; the CISCP certification guides for Egypt hub is where we keep every guide in this series up to date.
Frequently asked questions
Which is harder, CISCP or CSCP?
CSCP is the bigger exam: 150 questions in 3.5 hours at a Pearson VUE center or online, scored on a 200 to 350 scale with 300 passing, after a large self study load. CISCP is 80 questions in three hours sat at the end of a 48 hour program. Most candidates find CISCP the more manageable route.
Is CISCP cheaper than CSCP in Egypt?
Yes, by a wide margin. At the time of writing CISCP through us is EGP 35,699 to 45,900 with the exam included, while CSCP through us is EGP 185,500, exam included, and ASCM's own bundle is roughly USD 2,620 to 3,650 before tuition. Cost is often the deciding factor for self funded Egyptians.
Do Gulf employers prefer CSCP over CISCP?
At the first screen most recruiters filter for a recognized certification rather than a specific one. CSCP has the stronger brand in multinational planning roles; CISCP is widely held in procurement, trade and logistics. The interview, not the acronym, usually decides.
Can I do both CISCP and CSCP?
You can, and some managers do over several years. A common sequence in Cairo is CISCP, then CISCM at the manager level, then CSCP later when an employer sponsors it. Doing both at once is rarely sensible given the cost of CSCP in EGP.
Does CSCP still require a degree or three years of experience?
At the time of writing ASCM's CSCP page no longer lists a degree or experience requirement, which is a change from the older rule. Check ascm.org before you rely on this. CISCP keeps IPSCMI's rule of an associate degree or equivalent, or more than three years of experience.
