What does the CLTD assessment involve for someone working in Oman?

The assessment is one exam of 150 questions over 3.5 hours. Scores run from 200 to 350, and you pass with 300.

Pearson VUE delivers it at a test center or online proctored. Check the ASCM and Pearson VUE locator for the options open to you when you are ready to book, because availability can change. The content areas are logistics overview and strategy, capacity planning and demand management, order management, inventory and warehouse management, transportation, global logistics, logistics network design, and reverse logistics and sustainability.

How do you plan CLTD study around a job in Oman?

Plan around fixed points: the exam length, your own working pattern, and the time the program needs. The course page or an advisor can confirm how long Certified in Logistics, Transportation and Distribution takes.

A short plan works better than a long one:

  • Ask an advisor how the live online schedule fits your working pattern.
  • Walk through the eight content areas and mark the two where you have the least day to day contact.
  • Choose your exam format only after you have checked the locator, so you do not plan around a format that is not open to you.

Who can take CLTD, and who should choose another program?

ASCM accepts three years of related business experience, or a bachelor's degree, or an active approved certification. One of the three is enough, and ASCM can change its rules, so confirm them on the ASCM site.

CLTD suits these roles:

  • Logistics and supply chain professionals
  • Transportation and distribution managers
  • Warehouse and inventory specialists
  • Freight and operations coordinators

It does not suit a role built mainly around purchasing, and it is not a first step for someone who meets none of the three eligibility routes yet. If that is you, ask an advisor which program in the next section fits.

What are the alternatives to CLTD for a logistics career in Oman?

Choose by role. A buyer or sourcing specialist should look at Certified Supply Chain Professional, and a freight or trade executive at Certified Shipping and Freight Forwarding Professional.

What do Oman's free zones and labour plans mean for your choice?

They are worth a look if you work in a zone or are Omani. They do not change what ASCM requires for the exam.

The Special Economic Zone Authority at Duqm manages a zone that includes a port, dry dock and airport. The Public Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones, created in 2020, oversees the Duqm, Al Mazunah, Salalah and Sohar zones. If you work in one of these zones, the global logistics and transportation topics are part of the CLTD exam. Oman's labour plans also include replacement initiatives in logistics, so if you are Omani, check your own eligibility for those programs with the Ministry of Labour.

How much does CLTD cost in Oman?

The live online program Certified in Logistics, Transportation and Distribution is USD 3,900. The exam is separate from the course fee, so ask an advisor what it costs.

If several colleagues want to study together, ask an advisor about arranging a class locally, or use the corporate enquiry page.

What happens after you pass CLTD?

You hold a credential that ASCM asks you to maintain. The maintenance rule is 75 points every 5 years, and ASCM decides which activities earn points.

Ask ASCM for its current list as soon as you pass, and keep a record of anything you do that might count.

Getting started in Oman
