Which ESG course should I take first if I am new to the field?
Take Mastering ESG Fundamentals first. The course page lists about 45 hours of study, and it suits sustainability and ESG analysts, corporate communications teams, investor relations professionals and finance and accounting staff.
If your job is closer to operations than to reporting, Mastering Corporate Sustainability is the other starting point. It also lists about 45 hours and suits sustainability managers, CSR and corporate affairs teams, and operations and facilities managers.
Energy engineers and EHS professionals have a third option. The UAE Net Zero 2050 Strategy has over 25 programmes across six key sectors, and Mastering Net Zero Strategy is the course to look at if net zero is part of your job. The course page lists about 45 hours of study, and it suits sustainability and climate managers, energy and facilities engineers, EHS professionals and finance and reporting teams.
What should I study if I already work in sustainability and want to lead?
Take Mastering ESG Strategy and Implementation, which lists about 47 hours of study. It suits sustainability managers, chief sustainability officers, ESG program managers and risk and compliance heads.
If you work in risk, audit or compliance, take Mastering ESG Risk Management instead. It lists internal auditors, compliance officers and credit and investment risk analysts among the people it suits. For climate exposure in finance, insurance or asset management, Mastering Climate Change and Business Risk is the closer match.
Which ESG courses in the UAE suit someone moving in from another field?
Choose the course nearest the work you do today. Buyers and supply chain staff can take Mastering Sustainable Procurement and Supply Chain Management, and bankers and treasury staff can take Mastering Green Finance.
Product designers and packaging specialists can take Mastering Circular Economy. Agriculture and raw material buyers, and food and beverage or textile professionals, can take Mastering Regenerative Supply Chain, which lists about 46 hours.
If you are an Emirati changing fields, a Cabinet decision requires private sector companies with 50 or more employees to raise the Emirati share of their skilled jobs by 2 percent each year, for an overall 10 percent increase by 2026 (UAE Government Portal), so look at the skilled private sector jobs you could move into, then choose the course nearest that work.
How do I choose between the ten ESG courses?
Choose by job, not by price, because every course is self paced at AED 2,199 and runs at professional level. The list below also says who should skip a course.
- Mastering ESG Fundamentals: for analysts, communications, investor relations and finance staff. If you hold an ESG program manager title, look at Strategy and Implementation instead.
