IATA Certification Cost in Egypt: Exam Fees, Training and Total Budget in EGP

Three layers of cost, and which one people forget
Every IATA budget we build for a learner in Cairo has three layers. The IATA layer: IATA's course registration, digital course book and exam. The training layer: the live online program with our instructors, delivered by Blue Ocean Academy, an IATA Authorized Training Center based in Dubai. And your own layer: equipment, connection, English preparation and time off work. When you train with us, the first two layers arrive as one EGP fee: our fee includes the course, the exam and the certification fee, as the course page states.
The layer people forget is the third one. It is small in money and large in outcomes, so we will come back to it.
What IATA itself charges
IATA publishes list prices in USD for the self study editions of its courses, and those are the best public reference for the IATA layer: they are what you would pay IATA if you bought a self study edition directly, without our program. At the time of writing, the Airline Cabin Crew self study edition is listed on iata.org at roughly USD 445 to 520 with the ebook, the two figures being IATA's regional pricing tiers. At about 50 EGP per USD, that is somewhere around EGP 22,000 to 26,000. The entry level airport courses sit in a similar band. There is no individual IATA membership to pay; IATA Training sells courses, not memberships.
Treat these numbers as a reference point, not a bill. When you enrol through us, IATA registration runs through our Dubai based center, and our fee includes the course, the exam and the certification fee, as the course page states, so you do not pay IATA on top of it.
Blue Ocean Academy prices in Egypt
These are our Egypt prices at the time of writing, exactly as shown in EGP on each course page to visitors from Egypt. Learners in Egypt join live online, with classroom sessions at our New Cairo office when a batch is scheduled, at the same price. Each price includes the course, the exam and the certification fee, as the course pages state.
| IATA course | Format for learners in Egypt | Price in EGP |
|---|---|---|
| Airport Operations Fundamentals | Live online or classroom | EGP 51,900 |
| Passenger Ground Service Agent | Live online or classroom | EGP 51,900 |
| Airline Cabin Crew | Live online or classroom | EGP 51,900 |
| Airport Ramp Services | Live online or classroom | EGP 54,500 |
| Ground Operations Management Training | Live online or classroom | EGP 72,000 |
| Foundation in Travel and Tourism Diploma | Live online or classroom | EGP 59,100 |
| Fundamentals of Aviation | Self paced | Free of charge at the time of writing (standard EGP 15,299) |
Two observations from our Cairo enrolments. First, the three entry courses cost the same, so the choice between airport operations, passenger services and cabin crew should be made on career fit, not price; our course comparison for Egypt walks through that. Second, Ground Operations Management is the most expensive by a clear margin and is written for supervisors. If you are new to airports, it is the wrong place to spend EGP 72,000.
Materials, retakes and renewal
Study materials are simpler than people expect. The IATA digital course book comes with your IATA enrolment, our instructors work from it, and you do not need to buy anything else. A printed copy is optional and we rarely see Egyptian learners choose it.
Retakes are where budgets quietly break. On the IATA courses we checked, IATA allows two exam attempts within one enrolment at the time of writing, which means a second sitting after a fail usually costs nothing extra. A third attempt means enrolling with IATA again and paying the IATA layer a second time. Our advice is blunt: prepare properly for the first sitting. The IATA first attempt study plan on our site is the method our instructors use.
Renewal is the good news. IATA certificates of completion and the IATA diplomas awarded on these courses do not expire, carry no annual fee and require no continuing education credits. Once you have passed, the cost stops. For professionals comparing options, that is a real difference from the certifications that charge a renewal fee every few years.
A total budget for a self funded learner in Cairo
| Budget line | Entry level IATA course | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Training fee, live online | EGP 51,900 | Airport Operations Fundamentals, Passenger Ground Service Agent or Airline Cabin Crew, Egypt price at the time of writing |
| IATA registration, course book and exam | Included in the EGP 51,900 | Per the course page; if you bought IATA's self study edition directly instead, the cabin crew list price is roughly USD 445 to 520, about EGP 22,000 to 26,000 at the time of writing |
| Second exam attempt | Usually no extra IATA fee | Two attempts per enrolment on the courses we checked; a third means enrolling again |
| Renewal or membership | EGP 0 | No expiry, no annual fee |
| Laptop with webcam and stable internet | Varies | Needed for the remotely supervised IATA exam |
| Realistic total | EGP 51,900 | Plus your own equipment and connection; a third exam attempt would mean enrolling again |
Two things change this table in practice. If you can start with the free self paced Fundamentals of Aviation course, you learn whether aviation is for you before spending anything. And if you pass at the first attempt, the contingency line disappears entirely.
How employer sponsorship changes the picture
A large share of our IATA learners in Egypt do not pay personally. Ground handling companies at Cairo International Airport, freight forwarders at the Cairo cargo village, travel agencies in Heliopolis and Mohandessin, logistics operators in the Suez Canal Economic Zone and the travel desks of multinationals and banks in New Cairo and Smart Village all run training budgets. Banks such as CIB, NBE and Banque Misr, and the shared service centers of multinationals, usually route it through HR as professional development.
Sponsorship changes three things. The invoice goes to the company in EGP, often against a purchase order. HR will want a short justification linking the course to your role, so have that paragraph ready. And many Egyptian employers attach a service commitment of a year or two; read it before you sign, because leaving for a Gulf offer early can mean repaying the fee.
If your employer is undecided, the cheapest argument is the one in our guide to whether IATA is worth it in Egypt: a certificate that never expires, aimed at a sector that is hiring.
Paying in EGP, and the small costs that matter
Paying locally in EGP matters more than it used to. Many Egyptian bank cards carry limits on foreign currency spending, and paying IATA directly in USD can fail or attract conversion charges. Enrolling through our Cairo office in the Fifth Settlement means one EGP payment, one invoice, and no surprise on your statement.
Then the third layer. A quiet room and a stable connection for the supervised exam, a webcam that works, and a few weeks of English reading practice. None of it costs much. All of it affects whether you pay for the exam once or twice. Eligibility details and the documents you need are in our IATA requirements guide for Egypt, and the rest of the Egypt series is on our IATA certification guides hub. IATA's own fee and exam details for each course are on iata.org.
Frequently asked questions
How much does IATA certification cost in Egypt in total?
For an entry level course such as Airport Operations Fundamentals, our Egypt price is EGP 51,900 for live online or classroom delivery at the time of writing. Our fee includes the course, the exam and the certification fee, as the course page states, so there is no IATA fee on top. For comparison, IATA's own self study list prices, if you bought directly without our program, sit at roughly USD 445 to 520 for comparable courses, about EGP 22,000 to 26,000 at the time of writing.
Is the IATA exam fee included in the Blue Ocean Academy price?
Yes. Our fee includes the course, the exam and the certification fee, as the course page states. Your IATA registration runs through our Dubai based IATA Authorized Training Center, so you do not pay IATA separately. Only a third exam attempt, which means enrolling with IATA again, would cost extra.
Do I have to pay in USD?
No. Learners in Egypt pay us in EGP, and the course page shows EGP prices to visitors from Egypt. This avoids the foreign currency limits on many Egyptian bank cards and the conversion charges that come with paying an overseas body directly in USD.
Is there an annual renewal fee for an IATA certificate?
No. The IATA certificates of completion and diplomas awarded on these courses do not expire, so there is no renewal fee, no membership and no continuing education requirement. Once you pass, your spending on the certification ends.
What does it cost if I fail the IATA exam?
On the IATA courses we checked, IATA allows two attempts within one enrolment at the time of writing, so a second sitting usually carries no extra IATA fee. If you fail twice you must enrol with IATA again and pay the IATA layer a second time, which is why we push every Cairo group to prepare for a first attempt pass.
