The fee table on this page lists every program. The exam is separate from the course fee, so ask an advisor what it costs.
Live online or in person in Dubai: which suits you from Bahrain?
Choose live online if you want to stay in Bahrain while you study. Choose in person if you prefer a classroom at the Authorized Training Center in Dubai, where IATA courses run.
Exams run in scheduled IATA sessions arranged through Blue Ocean Academy in Dubai, and some are remote supervised where IATA offers it. Ask an advisor about the in person fee and which exam route your chosen course uses.
Which IATA course fits the role you want?
Match your target role to a program. Airport work, passenger service, ramp work, supervision, the cabin and travel each have their own course.
- Airport work, starting out: Airport Operations Fundamentals, for entry level airport operations staff and customer service and ground operations personnel.
- Airline or airport customer service: Passenger Ground Service Agent, for airline customer service agents and ground handling professionals.
- Ramp work: Airport Ramp Services, for aspiring ramp and ground handling professionals and newly recruited airline, airport and ground service staff.
- Supervisory roles: Ground Operations Management Training, for ground handling staff moving into supervision, and aspiring aviation professionals looking to enter airport and ground operations.
- Cabin crew: Airline Cabin Crew, for people aiming at international airline environments.
- Travel and tourism: Foundation in Travel and Tourism Diploma, for travel agency and tourism candidates.
What does an IATA course not give you?
Airline Cabin Crew ends in a certificate of completion, not a license, and an airline decides who it hires.
Bahrain Civil Aviation Affairs, under the Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications, governs civil aviation and issues licenses, permits and operational certifications, so take licensing questions to that authority.
What is Tamkeen, and who is it for?
Tamkeen is Bahrain's Labour Fund, and it offers job seekers training, professional certification and wage support. If you are a job seeker, check your own eligibility with Tamkeen.
Its National Employment Program 2.0 gives wage support for up to 36 months to Bahraini job seekers and fresh graduates registered with the Ministry of Labour.
What should a fresh graduate in Bahrain do first?
Start with the free course, Fundamentals of Aviation, then choose an IATA program for the role you want. Fundamentals of Aviation is self paced and separate from the IATA programs, and the course page lists about 47 hours of study.
If you are a Bahraini graduate registered with the Ministry of Labour, ask Tamkeen about wage support under its National Employment Program 2.0 and check your own eligibility. After Fundamentals of Aviation, Airport Operations Fundamentals fits airport roles, and the Foundation in Travel and Tourism Diploma fits travel and tourism roles.
What if you already work in aviation in Bahrain?
Pick the course that matches your next step, not your current one. Newly recruited ground service staff fit Airport Ramp Services, and staff ready to supervise fit Ground Operations Management Training.
If your employer is arranging training, ask an advisor about the corporate enquiry. Passenger Ground Service Agent is aimed at airport operations staff, ground handling professionals, airline customer service agents, and ramp and turnaround coordinators, so it suits people already on the job who want an IATA course.
Can you enroll without aviation experience?
For entry courses, yes. IATA generally asks for a high school diploma and English ability, with no earlier aviation experience.
Cabin crew applicants face age and medical and appearance considerations. They come up at the airline hiring stage, not for the course. Rules can change, so confirm them on iata.org/training or with an advisor before you enroll.
How does the IATA exam run?
IATA exams run in scheduled sessions, traditionally in March, June, September and December windows. They are typically multiple choice, and many diploma exams run around 3 hours.
The pass mark is usually 60%, with 70% for distinction. IATA sets and can change these rules, so check iata.org/training before you pick a window.
