PMP Certification Cost in Egypt: Exam Fees, Training and Total Budget in EGP
Read this guide in Arabic: اقرأ بالعربية
Ask ten people in Cairo what the PMP costs and you get ten numbers, mostly because PMI bills in US dollars and the pound has moved a lot. So let us do this properly: every line item, what is fixed in EGP, what floats with the exchange rate, and what you can reasonably get an employer to pay. All figures are at the time of writing, and we tell you where to confirm each one.
The short answer
Self funded, with our preparation course and a first time pass, the full budget is EGP 54,800 at the time of writing. Our fee includes the course, the exam and the certification fee, as the course page states, so nothing goes on top. Only what you pay PMI directly floats with the dollar: the exam if you study alone, and later any retake, renewal or membership. PMI charges the same US dollar amount wherever you sit, with no separate Egypt price list.
What PMI charges: exam fee and membership
PMI no longer shows exam prices on its public pages; you see the exact figure inside your PMI account at checkout. Third party sources at the time of writing report the member fee at roughly USD 405 to 445 and the non member fee at roughly USD 575 to 675, with the higher figures reflecting an increase applied in August 2026. At about 50 EGP per USD, that is somewhere between EGP 20,250 and EGP 22,250 for members and EGP 28,750 to 33,750 for non members. Treat these as planning numbers and confirm in your account before you pay. You pay this yourself only on the self study route; our program fee already includes it.
PMI membership costs about USD 129 a year plus a USD 10 joining fee, call it EGP 6,950 at the time of writing. If you are paying PMI directly, here is the arithmetic our Cairo learners find useful: the member discount on the exam fee is larger than the membership fee itself, and membership also gives you the PMBOK Guide and the Agile Practice Guide as free PDFs. Join first, then pay for the exam. On our program the exam is already covered, so membership is optional, though it still brings the free guides, a lower renewal fee and the PMI chapter in Egypt for networking and PDUs.
Training: the 35 contact hours in EGP
You cannot sit the exam without 35 contact hours of project management education, so this line is not optional for most candidates. Our Project Management Professional preparation course is EGP 54,800 at the time of writing for live online or classroom delivery in New Cairo when a batch is scheduled. That is the Egypt price shown on the course page to visitors from Egypt. It covers the full 35 hours, instructor led sessions mapped to the current Exam Content Outline, practice material and the completion document you quote in your PMI application. As the course page states, that fee also includes the exam and the certification fee.
We do not sell a cut down self paced version of the PMP course itself. Where self paced fits is the specialist layer around it. Our Mastering Agile and Hybrid Projects Delivery course, for example, is self paced at EGP 30,599 at the time of writing, and some learners add it because agile and hybrid approaches now carry about 60 percent of exam items.
A word on cheaper options. A recorded video bundle that promises 35 hours for a few thousand pounds can be legitimate, but check that the provider issues a dated certificate PMI will accept in an audit, and ask who answers your questions at ten at night two days before the exam. On that route you still pay PMI's exam fee yourself, in dollars. The cost of a retake is real, as the next sections show.
Study materials and the small extras
If you join PMI, the two core references are free. A good exam simulator with a few thousand questions is the one purchase we recommend beyond the course; prices vary by vendor, so budget a modest amount in USD. Our free PMP practice questions with answers show you the question style before you spend anything. Add a few hundred pounds for printing, a quiet study spot if home is noisy, and transport to the test center if you choose a center over online proctoring.
Retakes and rescheduling
Your eligibility year allows three attempts. A retake is paid separately on either route and carries a reduced fee, lower than the first attempt but still a meaningful dollar amount, and it is the single biggest avoidable cost on this page. Rescheduling is free until about a month before your appointment; inside that window PMI charges a fee, and cancelling in the final two days forfeits the exam fee entirely under PMI's policy at the time of writing. Pick a date you can hold, and book it only when your mock scores are where they should be.
Renewal: the cost after you pass
The PMP is valid for three years. To renew you report 60 PDUs and pay a renewal fee of about USD 60 for members or USD 150 for non members at the time of writing, roughly EGP 3,000 or EGP 7,500. PDUs can be earned free through your day job, volunteering, webinars and chapter events, or through further training. Our guide on how to renew your PMP certification explains the Talent Triangle split.
Total budget in EGP
| Item | Self study, paying PMI directly (approx. EGP) | Blue Ocean program, exam included (approx. EGP) |
|---|---|---|
| 35 contact hours of training | From another provider, cost varies | 54,800, live online or classroom |
| PMP exam fee, first attempt | 20,250 to 22,250 as a member, 28,750 to 33,750 without | Included in the 54,800, per the course page |
| PMI membership and joining fee (optional) | 6,950, pays for itself | 6,950, optional |
| Core references (PMBOK Guide, Agile Practice Guide) | Free with membership, otherwise purchase | Free with membership, otherwise purchase |
| Estimated total, one attempt | 27,200 to 33,750 plus your 35 hour course | 54,800 |
| Renewal every three years | About 3,000 as a member, 7,500 without | About 3,000 as a member, 7,500 without |
Dollar items are converted at roughly 50 EGP per USD at the time of writing; the low self study total assumes PMI membership. Recalculate on the day you pay, because the self study column moves with the rate while the program column does not.
Employer sponsorship in Egypt
Many of our Cairo PMP learners do not pay the full amount themselves. Banks such as CIB, NBE and Banque Misr, the multinationals and shared service centers in Smart Village and New Cairo, and large Egyptian groups like Elsewedy, Orascom and Talaat Moustafa run training budgets that routinely cover the course. Because our fee includes the exam, the sponsor approves one EGP invoice, not a course fee now and a dollar reimbursement later. Some employers add a retention clause of 12 to 24 months.
Three practical tips. Ask in writing before you enrol, not after. If you are self studying, get the exam fee reimbursement agreed at the same time as your training, since the dollar fee is the part HR often forgets. And find out when the training budget year closes, because unspent budget in the final quarter is the easiest to claim.
Government and public sector employees have a harder path; most pay personally or through a project funded training allocation. If that is you, self study with PMI membership is the smaller cash outlay if you find an acceptable 35 hour course cheaply; our program puts training and exam into one EGP price.
How to pay from Egypt
Our program is invoiced and paid in EGP, and that one payment covers the exam, which keeps things simple for individuals and corporate finance teams. Anything you buy from PMI directly, the exam on the self study route or later a retake, renewal or membership, is paid by international card in US dollars. Some Egyptian banks cap foreign currency spending on cards, so check your limit a week before you plan to pay rather than on the day. If the card is declined, your bank's foreign currency desk can usually raise the limit temporarily.
Before you spend anything, confirm you qualify. Our article on PMP requirements and eligibility in Egypt covers the four paths. If you are weighing the spend against what the market pays, see PMP salary in Egypt and the rest of our PMP guides for Egypt. The official source for every fee is pmi.org, inside your account.
Frequently asked questions
How much does the PMP exam cost in Egypt in Egyptian pounds?
PMI bills in US dollars, so there is no fixed EGP price. At the time of writing third party sources put the fee at roughly USD 405 to 445 for members and USD 575 to 675 for non members, which is about EGP 20,000 to 34,000 at around 50 EGP per USD. The exact amount appears in your PMI account at checkout. That is the self study cost; on our program the exam is included in the fee, as the course page states.
Is PMI membership worth it for a candidate in Egypt?
If you pay PMI directly, usually yes. The member discount on the exam fee is larger than the roughly USD 139 you pay to join, and membership includes the PMBOK Guide and Agile Practice Guide as PDFs. Join before you pay the exam fee, not after, or the discount does not apply. On our program the exam is included, so membership is optional.
Does the Blue Ocean PMP course price include the PMI exam fee?
Yes. Our fee includes the course, the exam and the certification fee, as the course page states. The EGP 54,800 Egypt price at the time of writing covers the 35 contact hours, instructor led preparation, practice material, your completion document and the PMI exam. Only a retake, renewal or optional PMI membership is paid separately.
Can I pay PMI in Egyptian pounds?
For anything you buy from PMI directly, PMI accepts payment by international card in US dollars only. Egyptian cards work, but some banks limit foreign currency spending, so check your card's international limit a few days before you pay and ask your bank to raise it temporarily if needed.
Will my employer in Egypt pay for my PMP?
Banks, multinationals and large Egyptian groups often cover the course through their training budget, sometimes with a retention clause. Because our fee includes the exam, you ask for one EGP amount, not a course fee plus a dollar exam fee. Ask in writing before you enrol.
