CICCM Certification Cost in Saudi Arabia: Exam Fees, Training and Total Budget
Read this guide in Arabic: اقرأ بالعربية
The question we get by WhatsApp more than any other is simply: how much, all in. Fair question, and one that most certification pages answer badly, because they quote a course fee and stay quiet about the rest. So here is the full picture for CICCM in Saudi Arabia, including the lines that appear later and the ones people wrongly assume exist. If you are still checking that you qualify, start with our CICCM eligibility guide for Saudi Arabia.
Why CICCM budgets look different from PMP budgets
Candidates arrive expecting the structure they know from PMI: a membership fee, then a separate exam fee, then renewal every three years. CICCM does not work that way. The certification comes from the International Purchasing and Supply Chain Management Institute, IPSCMI, in the United States, and in the Kingdom the training and the examination are delivered together as one program, with the exam sat at the end of the same week.
That has a practical effect on your budget. There is one main number, paid once, and no second invoice arriving from the United States afterwards. It also means you should be suspicious of any quote that splits an exam fee out separately in Saudi Arabia, because IPSCMI does not publish a standalone CICCM exam price and the exam here is administered through the academy.
The fee itself, and what it includes
At the time of writing, the CICCM course page lists a fee of about USD 1,199, which is roughly SAR 4,500 at the riyal peg of 3.75 to the dollar. Treat that as an indication rather than a promise. Prices shown online vary by region and format, they change, and the figure we quote a Saudi delegate is confirmed by our team at the time of booking.
What that single figure covers on our Saudi intakes is the part worth checking against any competitor quote you receive:
- The full program across fourteen modules, from contract formation and tendering through contract types, pricing, change orders, FIDIC basics, financial administration and close out.
- The courseware, so no separate textbook purchase is needed to sit the exam.
- The CICCM examination itself, administered at the end of the program, plus the certification process with IPSCMI.
Note what is absent from that list, because it is what makes the arithmetic simple. No compulsory IPSCMI membership is published as a condition of taking CICCM, and no annual subscription appears in the requirements. If a provider quotes you a membership line, ask exactly what it buys before you pay it.
The costs that are not on the invoice
These are the ones that surprise people, and none of them are large individually.
Value added tax at 15 percent applies to training in Saudi Arabia, so ask whether a quoted figure is inclusive or exclusive before you take it to finance. On a corporate purchase order this is normally reclaimable, but on a personal payment it is real money.
Travel and accommodation matter more than most people plan for. A delegate from Dammam or Al Khobar attending a Riyadh week is paying for flights, hotel nights and taxis on top of the fee, which is often the second biggest line in the whole budget. This is exactly why we run the program in Jeddah and Al Khobar as well, and why the live online option exists. If your company will not fund travel, the online route removes that line entirely.
Then there is time. Five working days away from your desk is a genuine cost to your employer even when no cash moves, and it is the argument you will need to win internally. Frame it as the week you stop losing money on badly drafted variation clauses, not as a week of study.
A simple total budget
Here is how the whole thing usually adds up for a delegate in the Kingdom. The figures marked as indicative come from published pricing at the time of writing and should be confirmed with our team.
| Cost line | Typical amount | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Training program including courseware | About USD 1,199, roughly SAR 4,500 | Indicative published figure; confirmed at booking |
| CICCM examination | Included | Administered by the academy at the end of the program |
| IPSCMI membership | None published as compulsory | Ask what it buys if anyone quotes one |
| Study materials | Included | Extra reference texts are optional, not required |
| VAT at 15 percent | Applies to the fee | Confirm whether your quote is inclusive |
| Travel and hotel | Varies by city | Zero for Riyadh residents and for live online delegates |
| Retake, if needed | Not published | Confirm the policy before you book, not after |
| Annual renewal | None published | Verify directly with IPSCMI before budgeting for one |
For a Riyadh based professional attending in the capital, the honest all in number is therefore the program fee plus VAT, and very little else. For someone flying in from the Eastern Province, add travel. That is the whole model.
Who usually pays, and how to get it approved
Most delegates in the Kingdom never pay this out of their own pocket, and employer sponsorship is easier to win than people expect. Contracts capability sits directly under the Vision 2030 localization agenda, and training budgets at contractors, government entities and giga project delivery teams are usually approved when the request is tied to a specific problem, for example claims exposure on a live package or preparation for tenders under the Government Tenders and Procurement Law. Send your manager a one paragraph business case, not a brochure.
If the central training budget is already committed for the year, ask your own function before you give up. Commercial, procurement and project controls departments in Saudi organizations often hold a small development line of their own that goes unspent, and one certification sits comfortably inside it. A head of contracts can approve in a conversation what a corporate committee would take a quarter to decide.
If nothing is available this year, two practical routes remain. Ask our advisors about splitting the fee into instalments arranged around the intake, which turns one large number into something a personal budget can absorb. Or pick an intake that falls in the next financial year, get the fee confirmed in writing now, and use the waiting months to push the approval through properly instead of rushing it in the final week.
Ways to bring the number down
Group bookings are the simplest. If three or more colleagues need the same capability, ask about a group rate or an in house delivery at your own offices, which usually costs less per head than sending everyone individually and removes travel entirely.
Timing helps too. Intakes in quieter months are easier to join at short notice, and choosing a city you already live in beats a discount you chase in another one. Our CICCM course in Riyadh page shows how the weeks are scheduled around working hours, and our broader contracts management training in Riyadh page lists shorter options if the full certification is more than you need this year.
Is the number justified
That depends entirely on what happens to your income and your role afterwards, which is a separate discussion with separate evidence. We have written it out honestly, including the cases where we tell people to wait, in our assessment of whether CICCM is worth it in Saudi Arabia, with the earnings picture set out in our CICCM salary article.
What we will say here is narrow and factual: as certification budgets go in the Kingdom, this is at the lower end, because the exam, the materials and the training arrive as one line rather than three.
Frequently asked questions
How much does CICCM certification cost in Saudi Arabia?
At the time of writing the published course fee is about USD 1,199, roughly SAR 4,500 at the standard riyal peg, and that figure covers the training, the courseware and the examination together. Prices vary by region and format and do change, so confirm the current Saudi figure with our team before budgeting. Add VAT at 15 percent, and travel if you are attending in another city.
Is the CICCM exam fee separate from the training fee?
Not in Saudi Arabia. The examination is administered by Blue Ocean Academy at the end of the program and is included in the program fee, so there is no second payment to IPSCMI afterwards. IPSCMI does not publish a standalone CICCM exam price, so be careful with any quote that lists one.
Does CICCM need annual renewal or membership fees?
IPSCMI does not publish a compulsory membership or an annual renewal fee as a condition of CICCM, so we do not tell candidates to budget for either. What is published is a five year maximum to complete all certification requirements. If renewal matters to your employer, verify the current position directly with IPSCMI rather than relying on a third party page.
Is VAT included in the CICCM fee in Saudi Arabia?
Ask, because quotes differ. Value added tax at 15 percent applies to training delivered in the Kingdom, and a headline figure you see online may be shown before tax. On a corporate purchase order the VAT is normally reclaimable, so it is not a real cost to your employer. On a personal payment it is real money, so get the inclusive number in writing before you commit.
What is the cheapest way to get CICCM certified in the Kingdom?
Attend in the city you already live in, or take the live online intake, which removes flights and hotel nights from the budget completely. If several colleagues need the same skills, ask about a group or in house rate, which usually works out lower per person. Beyond that, there is little to trim, because the fee already bundles the exam and the materials.
