CILT Salary in Egypt: What Certified Professionals Earn

Read this guide in Arabic: اقرأ بالعربية

Salary is the question people ask us quietly, after the session, usually in the car park. We answer it the way we do in person: with ranges, not promises. Egyptian logistics pay varies enormously by employer type, and a certification shifts your position within a band more than it changes the band itself. Everything below is in EGP per month and reflects what salary surveys and job postings in Egypt typically show at the time of writing, not a guarantee from us.

What logistics and transport roles pay in Egypt

After the currency moves of recent years, nominal salaries in EGP have risen sharply while purchasing power has lagged, so treat any figure older than a year with suspicion. With that caveat, the pattern across postings in Cairo, Alexandria and the Suez Canal zone looks like this.

LevelTypical titlesMonthly range in EGP that postings and surveys typically show
Entry, 0 to 2 yearsLogistics coordinator, import and export clerk, dispatcherEGP 8,000 to 18,000
Supervisor, 2 to 5 yearsWarehouse supervisor, transport planner, customs and clearance supervisorEGP 18,000 to 40,000
Manager, 5 to 10 yearsLogistics manager, distribution manager, fleet managerEGP 40,000 to 110,000
Senior, 10 years and aboveSupply chain director, head of logistics, country operations leadEGP 110,000 to 250,000 and above

The spread inside each row is driven by who signs the payslip. Multinationals and shared service centers in New Cairo and Smart Village sit at the top of each range and often add medical cover, a car allowance for managers and an annual bonus. Large Egyptian groups such as Elsewedy Electric, Orascom, Hassan Allam and Talaat Moustafa sit a little below the multinationals in base pay but promote faster. SMEs, local forwarders and family trading companies anchor the bottom of each range, sometimes paying partly in commission.

Government and public sector transport bodies, port authorities and state logistics companies pay lower base salaries, typically well under the private ranges above, but offer stability, allowances and pensions that private employers do not. Banks such as CIB and NBE hire few pure logistics people, but their procurement and facilities roles pay at the multinational end of the scale.

What CILT typically adds

Here is the part most articles get wrong. A CILT qualification rarely produces an immediate raise in your current seat. Egyptian employers seldom have a line in the pay policy that says "add this much for a diploma." What it does, consistently, is change which jobs you are shortlisted for. The International Diploma in Logistics and Transport at Level 5 is the credential that moves a coordinator into a manager interview, and the manager band starts roughly double where the supervisor band starts.

Postings and surveys typically show a certified candidate who changes role landing somewhere in the range of 15 to 30 percent above an uncertified peer with the same years, with the larger end at multinationals and 3PLs that explicitly list CILT in the posting. Inside the same company, the more typical outcome is a faster promotion cycle rather than a bigger annual increment.

Cairo versus Alexandria versus the Suez Canal zone

Greater Cairo pays the highest base salaries because that is where multinational head offices, shared service centers and the big 3PL control towers sit. Alexandria pays less at the same title but has the deepest pool of shipping, forwarding and port jobs, and the gap narrows at manager level in the shipping lines and terminal operators.

The Suez Canal Economic Zone, Ain Sokhna and East Port Said in particular, is the interesting one. Postings for the same title often match or beat Cairo once you add site allowances, transport and accommodation, because employers are competing for a small pool of qualified people willing to work on the canal. Damietta and the Delta ports follow Alexandria at a discount. The New Administrative Capital is creating logistics roles in facilities and government relocation projects, mostly paid at Cairo rates.

Demand drivers in Egypt right now

Five things are pushing demand for qualified logistics managers. The expansion of the Suez Canal Economic Zone and its port and industrial clusters. Export manufacturing in 10th of Ramadan, 6th of October City and the newer industrial zones, where the Egypt Vision 2030 targets depend on moving goods out efficiently. Cairo's metro, monorail and rail freight projects, which need transport planners. The recovery of tourism and air cargo through Cairo Airport and EgyptAir. And the growth of ecommerce and cold chain distribution for pharma and FMCG, which has made the 3PL sector one of the busiest hirers in the economy.

Job titles that most often mention CILT, or ask for a professional logistics qualification, include logistics manager, transport operations manager, supply chain planner, fleet and distribution manager, port operations supervisor and freight forwarding branch manager. You will see it more in postings from shipping lines, terminal operators, 3PLs and multinationals than from local manufacturers.

The Gulf route

Many Egyptian logistics professionals plan a few years in the UAE, Qatar, Kuwait or Oman, and CILT travels well because employers across the Gulf already know the name from ports and airlines. Gulf postings for logistics and transport managers typically show tax free monthly packages in the range of USD 3,000 to 7,000, roughly EGP 150,000 to 350,000 at about 50 EGP per USD at the time of writing, often with housing and flights on top at the larger employers. Remote roles for Gulf companies paid in USD are also appearing, mostly in planning and analytics.

Two cautions. The Gulf premium is largest for people who can show a recognized qualification plus hands on experience in a port, airport or 3PL environment, which is why we steer people toward the Diploma rather than the Certificate if they are planning that move; the level comparison explains the difference. And relocation offers come with a cost of living that eats part of the headline number, so compare savings capacity, not gross pay.

How to use these numbers

Place yourself in the table by years and employer type, then look one row down. That is the band CILT helps you reach, and you can set it against the EGP program price in our cost breakdown to judge the payback for your situation. Frequently asked questions

What does a logistics manager earn in Egypt?

Salary surveys and job postings in Egypt typically show logistics and distribution managers with five to ten years of experience in a range of roughly EGP 40,000 to 110,000 per month at the time of writing. Multinationals and 3PLs in Cairo sit at the top of that range, SMEs and local forwarders at the bottom.

Does CILT certification increase salary in Egypt?

Mostly at the point of a job change rather than inside your current role. Postings and surveys typically show certified candidates moving role landing 15 to 30 percent above uncertified peers with the same experience, and the bigger effect is being shortlisted for manager roles that start at roughly double the supervisor band.

Which pays more for logistics jobs, Cairo or Alexandria?

Cairo pays higher base salaries at the same title because of the multinational head offices and shared service centers. Alexandria has more shipping and port jobs at slightly lower pay. The Suez Canal Economic Zone often matches or beats Cairo once site allowances and accommodation are included.

Is CILT recognized in the Gulf for Egyptian professionals?

Yes. CILT is well known in Gulf ports, airlines and 3PLs, and postings for logistics managers there typically show tax free packages of roughly USD 3,000 to 7,000 a month at the time of writing. The Level 5 Diploma, combined with hands on operational experience, is what those employers respond to most.

Which CILT level has the best salary outcome in Egypt?

The International Diploma at Level 5, because it is the credential Egyptian multinationals and 3PLs associate with manager titles. The Level 3 Certificate helps new entrants get a first role and a supervisor step, but it is not what moves a candidate into the manager band.
