CIPS Level 4 Diploma in Procurement and Supply: The Complete 2026 Guide
CIPS calls the Level 4 Diploma in Procurement and Supply "the most popular starting route to MCIPS Chartered Status", and "the highest entry point in our qualifications." Equivalent to the first year of an undergraduate degree, it is the qualification that turns purchasing experience into a professional toolkit, built around the CIPS Procurement and Supply Cycle.
Entry requirements
You need one of: two A levels (or international equivalent), the CIPS Level 3 Advanced Certificate, or "a minimum of two years' relevant experience in a business environment." Graduates start here too, Level 4 is the highest entry point regardless of degree, though module exemptions may apply for prior learning.
The eight modules: 60 credits, all core

- L4M7 Whole Life Asset Management (6, OR), inventory management and whole life cost from idea to disposal

Assessment
All computer based. OR exams pass at 70%; CR essay exams (four 25 mark questions) pass at 50%, with Merit at 60% and Distinction at 75%. Sat at CIPS exam venues or by remote invigilation.
Time
TQT 600 hours, 250 guided learning, 335 self study, 15 exam hours. CIPS: "with five exam opportunities each year, we recommend allowing 12 months to finish all eight modules." On completion you become a Diploma Member and progress to Level 5.
