CIPS Level 5 Advanced Diploma in Procurement and Supply: The Complete 2026 Guide
The CIPS Level 5 Advanced Diploma in Procurement and Supply "marks the next step on your qualifications journey to MCIPS Chartered Status", equivalent to the second year of an undergraduate degree and pitched at the Managing band of the Global Standard. Where Level 4 builds the toolkit, Level 5 teaches you to manage risk, contracts, teams and, new to the 2025 syllabus, ESG.

You must have achieved the CIPS Level 4 Diploma; you can start Level 5 "as soon as you're ready."
Five core modules: 42 credits
- L5M1 Managing Teams and Individuals (12 credits, 3 hour CR), schools of thought on managing yourself, individuals and teams in a procurement context
- L5M2 Managing Supply Chain Risk (6, 1.5 hour OR), tools to establish, avoid, mitigate and manage risk, including ESG driven risk
- L5M3 Managing Contractual Risk (6, OR), contract formation, non conformance, breach and remedies
- L5M4 Advanced Contract and Financial Management (12, 3 hour CR), financial measures to manage and improve contract performance in support of strategic sourcing
- L5M5 Managing Ethical Procurement and Supply (6, OR), how ESG considerations shape ethical, sustainable procurement
Three electives from six: 18 credits
L5M6 Category Management · L5M7 Achieving Competitive Advantage Through the Supply Chain · L5M8 Project and Change Management · L5M9 Operations Management · L5M10 Logistics Management · L5M15 Advanced Negotiation, all 6 credit, 1.5 hour OR exams. Choose by career direction: category management and advanced negotiation for sourcing leaders; project and change for transformation roles; operations and logistics for the supply side.
Assessment and time
OR pass 70%; CR pass 50% (Merit 60%, Distinction 75%). TQT 600 hours, 250 guided learning, 335 self study, 15 exam hours. CIPS: "we recommend allowing 12 to 15 months." Completion makes you an Associate Member and leads to Level 6 and MCIPS eligibility.
