CLTD Certification Cost in Egypt: Exam Fees, Training and Total Budget in EGP

Read this guide in Arabic: اقرأ بالعربية

When a candidate in Cairo asks us what CLTD costs, the first thing we ask back is which route they are taking. Study alone and you pay ASCM directly, in US dollars, for the study content and the exam. Train with us and the fee is one number in Egyptian pounds. Mixing the two up is how people end up paying for the exam twice, or forgetting it entirely.

This article puts every line in one place. Confirm that you qualify first, using our note on CLTD eligibility in Egypt, before you pay the exam fee.

Route one: study alone and pay ASCM in US dollars

On the self study route, ASCM sells the two things you cannot avoid: the CLTD Learning System, which is the official study content, and the exam itself. At the time of writing, ASCM's published list prices put the Learning System at roughly USD 1,100 for members who hold the certification upgrade and roughly USD 1,530 for nonmembers, with the exam priced in the same range. The current figures are on ASCM's site and they move from year to year, so treat ours as approximate.

Membership is the lever most Egyptian candidates ignore. ASCM membership with the certification upgrade is an annual add on of roughly USD 199 at the time of writing. If you buy both the Learning System and the exam, the member discount on each item is far larger than the membership fee, so joining before you buy is simply cheaper. We have watched candidates pay the nonmember price twice because nobody told them.

Converted at roughly 50 EGP per USD at the time of writing, each of the two main items lands between about EGP 55,000 and EGP 76,500, and membership adds about EGP 10,000. So the ASCM side alone sits somewhere around EGP 120,000 to 153,000 depending on whether you join.

Paying from Egypt needs a card enabled for international transactions, and several Egyptian banks cap foreign currency spending per month, so check your limit a week ahead. The pound also moves, so budget with a margin.

Route two: train with Blue Ocean, priced in EGP

Our Certified in Logistics, Transportation and Distribution program is priced at EGP 154,800 for live online or classroom delivery. That is the Egypt price at the time of writing, and it is what the course page shows to visitors from Egypt. Classroom batches run at our New Cairo office when scheduled; live online batches are open to anyone in Egypt. There is no self paced CLTD option at the time of writing.

At the time of writing, the course page states that this fee includes the course, examination and certification fees. So if you enroll with us, you do not buy the CLTD exam from ASCM separately, and that is exactly the double payment we most want you to avoid. Ask our advisors which study materials your batch uses before you commit.

If the full CLTD budget is out of reach this year, there are cheaper ways to build the same knowledge base. Our self paced Mastering Logistics and Transportation program is EGP 30,599 and the International Diploma in Logistics and Transport is EGP 71,500, both Egypt prices at the time of writing. Neither is CLTD, but both are a sensible first rung for a coordinator in Alexandria or Damietta who wants structure now and the ASCM credential in two years.

Study materials, retakes and renewal

On the self study route the Learning System is your study material; on our program you work from the course resources and practice assessments. Either way, you do not need a shelf of extra books, and you should stay away from the question dumps sold on Telegram groups in Egypt. They breach ASCM's rules and most are built on older exam content, so they teach you the wrong answers with great confidence.

Retakes are the cost nobody budgets for. ASCM sells a retake at a lower price than a first attempt, and some of its bundles include a second chance exam on the condition that you sit the first attempt within your authorization window. The exact retake figure changes, so plan a reserve of a few hundred US dollars, confirm the live number in your ASCM account, and ask us how a retake works under your enrollment.

Renewal is cheap relative to the entry cost but it is recurring. CLTD holders need 75 maintenance points every five years plus a maintenance fee that is lower for members. Webinars, courses, conference attendance and teaching all count, and many of the webinars are free with membership. Our guide on how to renew CLTD walks through the points.

Who pays in Egypt: employer sponsorship

In our Cairo classes, a good share of CLTD candidates are sponsored in some form. The pattern is predictable. Multinationals, FMCG and pharma plants in 6th of October City and 10th of Ramadan, 3PLs, terminal operators in the Suez Canal Economic Zone and the shared service centers in New Cairo all have training budgets that can absorb an ASCM credential. Banks such as CIB, NBE and Banque Misr spend heavily on development, but mostly on banking qualifications; a procurement or facilities manager inside a bank can still ask, and some succeed.

Large Egyptian groups, think Elsewedy, Orascom, Hassan Allam, Talaat Moustafa, do sponsor, usually with a retention clause of twelve to twenty four months and a quarterly approval cycle. That means you should raise it before the budget closes, not after.

Three arrangements come up again and again. Full sponsorship with a retention clause. A split, where the employer covers part of the fee and you cover the rest. Or reimbursement after you pass. Whichever you aim for, tie the request to a live problem: a new distribution center in the New Administrative Capital, an import flow through Ain Sokhna, a cold chain export line. Budget owners approve projects, not certificates.

Total budget in EGP

On the self study route, the lower total assumes you join ASCM before buying and the higher one assumes you do not. In cash, the two routes end up closer than most people expect; what the program adds is instructor time, structure and a fixed schedule. Pass on the first attempt and the retake line disappears, which makes it the one cost here that is entirely in your hands.

Whether the total is worth it depends on where you work and where you want to work next. We go through the payback math, including the Gulf route, in is CLTD worth it in Egypt, and every article in this series is collected on our CLTD guides for Egypt hub.

Frequently asked questions

How much does the CLTD exam cost in Egypt?

ASCM bills the exam in US dollars, not in pounds. At the time of writing its published price is roughly USD 1,100 for members with the certification upgrade and roughly USD 1,530 for nonmembers, about EGP 55,000 to 76,500 at roughly 50 EGP per USD. If you enroll in our program, the course page states that the fee includes the examination, so you do not buy it separately.

How much is CLTD training at Blue Ocean Academy in Egypt?

Our Certified in Logistics, Transportation and Distribution program is EGP 154,800 for live online or classroom delivery, the Egypt price at the time of writing, and the course page shows it in EGP to visitors from Egypt. The page states that the fee includes the course, examination and certification fees, so you do not buy the CLTD exam from ASCM separately.

Is ASCM membership worth it if I only want the CLTD?

Usually yes, if you are self studying and buying from ASCM directly. At the time of writing the member discount on the Learning System and again on the exam adds up to much more than the roughly USD 199 annual membership with certification upgrade. Join first, then buy, and your maintenance costs will be lower later too.

What does it cost to keep the CLTD after I pass?

You need 75 maintenance points every five years plus a maintenance fee that is lower for ASCM members. Many points come from free member webinars, so the recurring cost is modest compared with the entry cost. The exact fee changes, so confirm it in your ASCM account.

Will my employer in Egypt pay for CLTD?

Often, if you ask the right way. Multinationals, FMCG and pharma plants, 3PLs, Suez Canal zone operators and large Egyptian groups sponsor logistics credentials, usually with a retention clause. Tie the request to a live project and raise it before the quarterly budget closes.
