CSCP vs CPIM vs CLTD in Egypt: Which ASCM Certification Fits Your Role?
Read this guide in Arabic: اقرأ بالعربية
ASCM offers three main certifications, and Egyptian professionals regularly pick the wrong one. Not a bad one, just the wrong one for their role, which means studying material they will not use and skipping material they need. This comparison is built from the question we hear most in our Cairo classes: "I work in X, which of these should I do?" We answer that by role and by career stage, with a table first for those who want the summary.

CSCP: the end to end credential
CSCP is for people whose job touches more than one function. If you sit in meetings where sourcing, planning, logistics and finance argue, and you are expected to see the whole flow from a supplier in China to a shelf in a Maadi hypermarket, this is your credential. It is the one regional recruiters in Cairo and the Gulf ask for most often, and the one that pairs best with a move toward supply chain manager, regional planner or head of supply chain.
Its weakness is depth. CSCP will not teach you to set safety stock parameters or build a master production schedule as well as CPIM does, and it spends less time on freight modes and warehouse design than CLTD. Our Certified Supply Chain Professional program is the broadest of the three we run, and the most expensive at EGP 185,500 at the time of writing.
CPIM: the planner's credential
CPIM is for people inside the four walls of a plant or distribution business: demand planners, material planners, production schedulers, inventory controllers and the managers above them. In Egypt that means FMCG and pharma plants in 6th of October City and 10th of Ramadan, cable and appliance manufacturers, and the planning teams of large retailers. If your performance review mentions forecast accuracy, inventory turns or schedule adherence, CPIM speaks your language more precisely than CSCP.
Since ASCM consolidated it into a single exam, CPIM is also quicker to complete than it used to be. Our Certified in Planning and Inventory Management program is priced at EGP 168,600 for live online or classroom in Egypt at the time of writing. For planners who want a shorter, more affordable ASCM option first, the Supply Chain Planning Certificate at EGP 83,800 covers the core planning material without the full credential.
CLTD: the logistics credential
CLTD is for people who move things. Warehouse and distribution center managers, transport planners, freight forwarders, customs and trade compliance leads, and the logistics teams of 3PLs operating around Alexandria port, East Port Said, Ain Sokhna and the inland dry ports. Egypt's logistics sector is expanding with the Suez Canal Economic Zone, and CLTD is the credential that matches its vocabulary: network design, mode selection, warehouse operations, reverse logistics and global trade rules.
Our Certified in Logistics, Transportation and Distribution program is EGP 154,800 for live online or classroom in Egypt at the time of writing, the lowest of the three. CLTD is the least known of the three among Egyptian HR teams outside logistics, so it is a strong choice if you are staying in logistics and a weaker one if you plan to move into broad supply chain management.
Recognition in Egypt and the Gulf
All three are ASCM credentials, so the brand is shared. Where they differ is who asks. In our experience, bank procurement teams and multinational regional offices in Cairo mention CSCP; plant general managers and production directors mention CPIM; logistics operators and port concessionaires mention CLTD. Gulf postings follow the same pattern, with CSCP the most frequently requested overall because so many Gulf roles are regional and cross functional. None of the three is widely recognized by small Egyptian family businesses, so if that is your market, weigh the cost carefully, as our honest look at whether CSCP is worth it in Egypt explains.
Our recommendation by career stage
Fresh graduate or under two years of experience. None of the three yet. Build operational exposure first; our free self paced Supply Chain Management Fundamentals program is the right starting point.
Two to five years, planning or production role. CPIM, or the Supply Chain Planning Certificate if budget is tight. Add CSCP later when you move toward management.
Two to five years, warehouse, transport or freight role. CLTD. It will pay off fastest in the Suez Canal zone and the Alexandria logistics market.
Five to twelve years, cross functional or managerial role, or planning a Gulf move. CSCP. It is the credential recruiters at that level recognize first, and the one that opens regional roles.
Already hold one of them. Add the credential that covers your blind spot. A CPIM holder moving to a regional role adds CSCP; a CSCP holder taking over a distribution network adds CLTD.
Whichever you choose, check the current eligibility position in our CSCP requirements and eligibility in Egypt guide, since the same rules broadly apply to all three, and find the rest of the series at the CSCP guides for Egypt hub.
Frequently asked questions
Which ASCM certification is best for Egypt?
It depends on your role, not the country. CSCP is the most requested by multinationals, banks and Gulf recruiters hiring in Cairo, CPIM fits planners in manufacturing plants, and CLTD fits logistics and distribution roles around the ports and the Suez Canal zone.
Should I take CPIM before CSCP?
No, they are independent and neither is a prerequisite for the other. Take CPIM first only if your current job is planning or production and you want depth there. If your role is already cross functional, go straight to CSCP.
Which is the cheapest ASCM certification in Egypt?
With Blue Ocean at the time of writing, CLTD is EGP 154,800, CPIM is EGP 168,600 and CSCP is EGP 185,500 for live online or classroom delivery, and each fee includes the course, the exam and the certification fee, as the course pages state. ASCM's own USD fees, which apply if you self study, follow a similar structure for all three, with member discounts. The Supply Chain Planning Certificate at EGP 83,800 is a cheaper option for planners who do not need the full credential.
Are the three exams the same difficulty?
All three use one exam of 150 questions over 3.5 hours with scaled scoring and a pass mark of 300 at the time of writing. CSCP is often felt to be harder because of its breadth, while CPIM is harder for people who dislike calculations. CLTD sits between the two for most of our Cairo candidates.
Is CLTD recognized in Egypt?
Yes within logistics: 3PLs, freight forwarders, port and terminal operators and large distributors recognize it, especially around Alexandria and the Suez Canal Economic Zone. Outside logistics it is less known than CSCP, so choose it when you intend to stay in the function.
