Is PHRi certification in Dubai right for your HR role?
PHRi fits HR professionals, HR business partners, talent acquisition specialists and learning and development leads. The exam covers six areas: HR Administration and Shared Services, Talent Acquisition, Learning and Development, Compensation and Benefits, Employee Relations and Risk Management, and HR Information Management.
Work in a Dubai government department? Law No. 8 of 2018 defines the Human Resources Directorate of each department. Ask yours how it treats outside credentials before you pay.
If you handle hiring, Talent Acquisition is the PHRi area closest to your work. At private companies with 50 or more workers, hiring also sits under Emiratisation targets: the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation said in 2025 that these companies must grow Emiratis in skilled jobs by 2 percent a year.

- Aspiring HR professional, recent graduate, administrative professional or supervisor: Human Resource Management Fundamentals is free and self paced, and the course page lists about 47 hours of study.
- Mid to senior level HR professionals: Senior Professional in Human Resources International prepares for SPHRi, which asks for 4 years of experience with a master's degree, 5 with a bachelor's or 7 with less.
- Mid to senior level HR professionals who want the global credential: Global Professional in Human Resources prepares for the global HR exam.
- Exam in Arabic: PHRi does not suit you, because HRCI offers it in English and Spanish only.
What experience do you need for the PHRi exam?
HRCI asks for professional HR experience that depends on your degree. Confirm the rules on the HRCI site before you apply, because they can change.
- Master's degree: 1 year of professional HR experience.
- Bachelor's degree: 2 years.
- Less than a bachelor's degree: 4 years.
What is the PHRi exam like?
The PHRi exam has 90 scored questions plus 25 pretest questions and lasts 2 hours 15 minutes. HRCI scales the score from 100 to 700, and the pass mark is 500.
Pearson VUE delivers HRCI exams at test centers or online with a proctor. Check the Pearson VUE locator for current availability in Dubai. To keep the credential, HRCI asks for 60 recertification credits every 3 years and one ethics credit per cycle.

- aPHRi: 65 scored plus 25 pretest questions in 1 hour 45 minutes.
- PHRi: 90 scored plus 25 pretest questions in 2 hours 15 minutes.
- SPHRi: 115 scored plus 25 pretest questions in 2 hours 45 minutes.
