The short answer
If you recruit for a living and want a credential that says so, the Certified International Recruitment Specialist is the examined designation; if you want to recruit the way the best teams now do, with AI tools, skills-based hiring and analytics, the AI-Powered Global Recruitment programme is the course. Many recruiters take both. If you are an HR generalist who hires occasionally, neither is your first purchase: recruitment and selection is already a domain of HRCI's aPHRi and talent management a functional area of SPHRi, and the generalist credentials cover what you need.
What recruiters are hired to be good at now
The recruiter's job in India has changed in five years more than in the twenty before. Sourcing moved from job boards to platforms and talent pools; screening moved toward skills-based assessment and away from degree and brand filters; interviews added structured, asynchronous and AI-assisted formats; employer branding became part of the role; and every stage generates data someone is expected to read. The two courses below correspond to the two halves of that change: being examined as a specialist, and learning the new toolkit.
The designation: Certified International Recruitment Specialist
The ACI Certified International Recruitment Specialist is a taught programme of 47 guided hours, delivered in cohorts through exercises, case studies, assessments, videos and group discussion, with an examination leading to the ACI designation. It is the credential for talent acquisition specialists, agency and RPO recruiters, and HR professionals who own hiring and want recognition for the specialism. The syllabus, exam format and what the designation states are set out on the course page. Course page. ACI's other designations, CHRMP and CHRM, are explained in CHRMP and CHRM certification in India.
The programme: Mastering AI-Powered Global Recruitment
Forty-nine guided hours, self-paced, built for recruiters, HR teams and talent professionals who want to improve sourcing, screening, interviewing, employer branding and candidate experience with AI, automation and analytics, without losing the human judgement that hiring depends on. The modules: the talent economy and the future of work; the machine-learning foundations of modern recruitment; AI in recruitment, its capabilities, tools and limits; skills-based hiring and capability mapping; data-driven recruitment and talent analytics; modern sourcing strategies for a global talent pool; generative AI and conversational recruiting tools; the new resume, digital career identity and skills validation; the future of interviews, from AI assistants to job auditions; and employer branding in the talent marketplace, with the candidate experience and the ethics of automated decisions running through it. Course page. It pairs with the wider AI, Lean and ethics in HR courses.
Where recruitment sits in the HRCI credentials
- aPHRi: "Recruitment and Selection" is one of its five domains, covering workforce planning basics, sourcing, screening, interviewing, offers and onboarding. The right first credential for a junior recruiter who wants an HRCI credential rather than a specialist one. Course page.
- PHRi: recruitment sits within Business Management and Employee Engagement rather than as a named area; the credential is for generalists.
- SPHRi: "Talent Management" is one of its four functional areas, at the strategic level of workforce planning, acquisition strategy and succession. Course page.
A head of talent acquisition with the years to qualify often holds SPHRi rather than a recruitment-specific designation; a specialist recruiter in an agency more often holds CIRS.
Who should take which
- Agency, RPO and in-house recruiters who want a credential: CIRS.
- TA teams modernising their process: AI-Powered Global Recruitment, often licensed for the whole team.
- HR executives who hire occasionally: aPHRi or the generalist courses, not a specialist course.
- Heads of TA: SPHRi if eligible, plus the AI programme to lead the toolkit change.
Delivery in India
CIRS runs in live online cohorts; the AI programme is self-paced with 49 guided hours. Tuition is shown in Indian rupees on the course pages for visitors in India; ACI's fees are separate. Staffing companies and TA teams take the AI programme as a team licence through corporate training in India.
