CHRP Salary in Egypt: What Certified Professionals Earn
Read this guide in Arabic: اقرأ بالعربية
We will start with a warning, because salary articles usually skip it. Nobody has a precise figure for what a CHRP holder earns in Egypt. What exists is a mix of salary surveys, job postings and what our own candidates in Cairo tell us when they come back for a second course. All of the figures below are ranges in EGP per month, gross, as salary surveys and job postings typically show them at the time of writing. Treat them as a map, not a promise.
The second warning is about currency. The EGP moved sharply between 2022 and 2024 and HR pay has been repricing ever since, fastest at multinationals and banks. Any figure you read from 2021 is out of date.
HR salary ranges in Egypt by seniority
The table below is how we describe the market to candidates deciding whether the Certified Human Resource Professional program makes sense for them. The two columns matter more than the rows: the same title pays very differently at a family owned company in Shubra and at a multinational in Smart Village.
| Level | Local companies and SMEs (EGP per month) | Multinationals, banks and large groups (EGP per month) |
|---|---|---|
| HR coordinator or junior officer, 0 to 2 years | EGP 8,000 to 15,000 | EGP 14,000 to 25,000 |
| HR generalist or specialist, 2 to 5 years | EGP 15,000 to 30,000 | EGP 25,000 to 50,000 |
| Senior specialist, supervisor or HR business partner, 5 to 8 years | EGP 30,000 to 55,000 | EGP 50,000 to 90,000 |
| HR manager, 8 years and above | EGP 50,000 to 100,000 | EGP 90,000 to 180,000 |
| HR director or head of people | EGP 100,000 to 200,000 | EGP 180,000 to 350,000 and above |
CHRP sits squarely in the first three rows. It is a practitioner credential, so it does the most for people moving from coordinator to generalist, or from generalist to senior specialist. At manager level and above, employers look at track record first and at credentials such as CHRM or an HRCI exam second.
Sector by sector: where the money is
Multinationals and shared service centers in Cairo pay the most consistently. Pharma, FMCG, technology and consulting firms with regional hubs in New Cairo, Smart Village and Maadi benchmark against regional pay scales, and many pay allowances on top of basic salary. Banks such as CIB, NBE and Banque Misr are close behind, with strong benefits and a clear grade structure, although NBE and Banque Misr as public banks move more slowly on base pay.
Large Egyptian groups, the Elsewedy, Orascom, Hassan Allam and Talaat Moustafa type, sit in the middle of the right hand column and above it for people who can run HR for a site of a thousand workers. Telecom operators, EgyptAir and the wider Cairo Airport ecosystem are similar, with aviation adding shift and allowance complexity that HR officers are paid to manage.
Government and public sector HR, including ministries and public authorities, pays well below both columns on base salary, and postings there rarely ask for a certification. People take those roles for stability and then certify when they want to move to the private sector. SMEs are the widest range of all: a small agency in Dokki and a 300 person exporter in the 10th of Ramadan zone can pay the same title very differently, because the exporter's HR generalist also carries factory compliance.
Cairo versus Alexandria versus the Suez Canal zone
Greater Cairo pays the most because the head offices are here. Alexandria tends to run lower for the same title, roughly 10 to 20 percent in the postings we see, except at port, petrochemical and pharma employers on the Borg El Arab side. The Suez Canal Economic Zone is the interesting one. New factories in Ain Sokhna and East Port Said need HR officers who can set up a plant from zero, and they often pay a Cairo level salary plus accommodation or transport. If you are early in your career and mobile, that is where a CHRP holder can earn above the table.
What premium does CHRP typically add?
Honest answer: a modest one on the payslip and a larger one on the shortlist. Salary surveys tend to put the certified premium in HR somewhere around 10 to 20 percent for the same role, and we would not promise even that. What we see with our Cairo candidates is more useful: the certification gets them past the HR screen at a multinational that would previously have passed on someone from a small local company, and it shortens the time between coordinator and generalist by a review cycle or two. The uplift follows the title change, not the certificate.
If you want to run the numbers against the fee, our honest look at whether CHRP is worth it in Egypt does exactly that, and the cost article gives the EGP figures.
What is driving HR demand in Egypt right now
Five things, in our view. The Suez Canal Economic Zone build out and the export manufacturing push under Egypt Vision 2030, which create plant HR roles. The New Administrative Capital, where relocating ministries, banks and companies need HR staff to manage transfers. The tourism recovery on the Red Sea and in Upper Egypt, which needs seasonal workforce planning. Fintech, where young companies need their first real HR function. And the growth of shared service centers in Cairo serving the Gulf and Europe, which recruit HR specialists who work in English with international policies.
Add to that the labor law changes that took effect in 2025, which have pushed employers to look for HR staff who actually understand contracts, termination and compliance rather than only administration. Scenario questions on exactly these topics sit inside the CHRP program.
Job titles that ask for an HR certification
In Egyptian postings the certification request usually appears as "HR certification preferred" or "CHRP, PHRi or equivalent is a plus" rather than as a hard requirement. The titles where we see it most: HR generalist, HR business partner, talent acquisition specialist, compensation and benefits specialist, HR operations specialist, learning and development specialist, and HR section head at a plant.
The Gulf route for Egyptian HR professionals
Many of our candidates certify with one eye on a Gulf offer. Postings from the UAE, Qatar, Kuwait and Oman for HR specialists and managers convert, at roughly 50 EGP per USD at the time of writing, to several times the Cairo figures above, before housing. Two realities. Gulf employers more often name HRCI or SHRM credentials at senior level, so CHRP is a first step rather than the final one; see CHRP vs PHRi in Egypt. And remote HR roles for Gulf companies paid in foreign currency do exist for Egyptians, usually in recruitment and HR operations, where a structured credential makes you credible to a recruiter who has never heard of your employer.

Frequently asked questions
What is the average salary of a certified HR professional in Egypt?
There is no reliable single average. Salary surveys and job postings at the time of writing typically show HR generalists and specialists earning EGP 15,000 to 30,000 per month at local companies and EGP 25,000 to 50,000 at multinationals, banks and large groups. Seniority and employer type matter more than the certification alone.
How much more do CHRP holders earn than uncertified HR staff in Egypt?
Surveys often describe a premium of around 10 to 20 percent for certified HR staff in the same role, but we would not promise it. In our experience the bigger effect is faster shortlisting and an earlier move to the next title, and the salary increase follows that.
Do HR professionals earn more in Cairo than in Alexandria?
Usually yes, because head offices are concentrated in Greater Cairo. Postings in Alexandria often run 10 to 20 percent lower for the same title. New plants in the Suez Canal Economic Zone sometimes pay Cairo level salaries plus allowances.
Which HR jobs in Egypt ask for CHRP or a similar certification?
HR generalist, HR business partner, talent acquisition specialist, compensation and benefits specialist, HR operations specialist and plant HR section head roles most often list a certification as preferred. Multinationals and shared service centers in Cairo are the most likely to ask.
Will CHRP help me get an HR job in the Gulf?
It helps you present a structured HR background, which matters when a Gulf recruiter does not know your Egyptian employer. At senior level Gulf postings more often name HRCI or SHRM credentials, so many Egyptians use CHRP as the first step and sit PHRi afterwards.
