CIPS Certification Cost in Egypt: Exam Fees, Training and Total Budget in EGP
Read this guide in Arabic: اقرأ بالعربية
The most common question we hear about CIPS in Egypt is not whether it is worth doing. It is "what will it actually cost me, and in which currency?" That is a fair question, because the money goes to two different places. CIPS bills you in GBP for membership, module registration and exams. Tuition is paid in EGP. Below is the full picture at the time of writing, with the figures we can stand behind and the ones you need to confirm on cips.org yourself.
Two pots of money in two currencies
Think of the budget as two pots. The first pot goes to the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply in the UK: an annual student membership fee while you study, then an exam fee each time you sit a module. These are set in GBP, updated by CIPS roughly once a year, and paid by card from your own CIPS account.
The second pot is tuition. Learners in Egypt join Blue Ocean's live online CIPS classes, and that price is set in EGP and shown on the course page to visitors from Egypt. The two pots are independent: paying tuition does not pay CIPS, and paying CIPS does not include any teaching.
For converting the GBP pot, we work with roughly 50 EGP per USD at the time of writing, which puts the pound at around EGP 65. Rates move, and your bank will add its own margin on a foreign currency card payment, so build in a cushion.
What you pay CIPS in GBP
Student membership is the entry ticket. You cannot register for an exam without it, and it renews annually until you finish. We deliberately do not print the exact GBP figure here because CIPS revises its fee table each year and we would rather you read the current number on cips.org than rely on a page that may be a few months old.
Exam fees are per module. The CIPS Level 4 Diploma in Procurement and Supply has eight modules: six shorter objective response exams and two longer constructed response exams (L4M1 and L4M8). At the time of writing, a sensible planning figure is roughly GBP 100 to 200 per module, with the constructed response modules at the upper end. Pass every module first time and the whole exam bill lands somewhere around GBP 900 to 1,500, which is very roughly EGP 60,000 to 100,000 at today's rates.
Two more GBP items are worth asking CIPS about before you book. Remote invigilated exams taken from home and exams at a Pearson VUE test center may be priced differently. And if you need to resit a module, you pay that module's exam fee again; there is no separate penalty that we are aware of, but the fee itself is the penalty.
What you pay Blue Ocean in EGP
Our Egypt price for Level 4 tuition, live online or classroom when a batch is scheduled in New Cairo, is EGP 62,300 at the time of writing. That is the figure shown on the course page to visitors from Egypt, and it covers tuition for the level, not CIPS fees.
For context, the other CIPS levels are priced separately: the Level 3 Advanced Certificate is EGP 71,500 and the Level 5 Advanced Diploma is EGP 62,300, both live online or classroom. There is no self paced option for the CIPS levels at the moment, which is deliberate: the constructed response modules need a trainer marking your written answers.
If the budget simply does not stretch this year, the Certified International Procurement Professional program is self paced at EGP 35,699 (standard price EGP 45,899, currently discounted), or EGP 45,900 live online or classroom. It is a different credential from a different body, and we say so plainly, but it gets many Cairo professionals moving while they save for CIPS.
Study materials, time off and the costs nobody budgets for
CIPS publishes an official study guide for each module, sold in GBP through its own shop. We recommend them for the constructed response modules at minimum. They are priced per module, so check the current figures on cips.org and decide whether you want all eight or only the ones you find hardest.
Then there are the quiet costs. A ride to a test center in New Cairo and back, a half day of leave for each three hour exam, a quiet room with stable internet if you sit online, and a backup plan for Cairo power cuts. None of these are large on their own. Together they add up, and candidates who ignore them are the ones who turn up stressed.
Renewal is the good news. The Level 4 Diploma itself does not expire. If you later want to keep letters after your name and move toward MCIPS, you maintain CIPS membership and CPD, which our guide on how to renew your CIPS certification explains.
A simple total budget for Level 4 in EGP
| Item | Paid to | Planning figure at the time of writing |
|---|---|---|
| Level 4 tuition, live online or classroom | Blue Ocean Academy, in EGP | EGP 62,300 |
| CIPS student membership, annual | CIPS, in GBP | Set by CIPS each year; confirm the current GBP fee on cips.org |
| Exam fees, eight modules passed first time | CIPS, in GBP | Roughly GBP 900 to 1,500, about EGP 60,000 to 100,000 |
| Official study guides | CIPS shop, in GBP | Priced per module; optional but recommended for L4M1 and L4M8 |
| Resit contingency, one module | CIPS, in GBP | Roughly GBP 100 to 200, about EGP 6,500 to 13,000 |
| Working total before membership and books | Roughly EGP 125,000 to 175,000 |
Treat the table as a planning tool, not a quote. The EGP column for CIPS items moves with the exchange rate, and the GBP figures must be checked against the live CIPS fee table before you commit.
How employer sponsorship changes the picture
A large share of our Level 4 learners in Cairo are sponsored. Banks such as CIB, NBE and Banque Misr, multinationals with shared service centers in New Cairo and Smart Village, and groups like Orascom, Elsewedy and Hassan Allam all run training budgets that CIPS fits into neatly.
Typically the employer pays the tuition in EGP against an invoice, which is the simple part. The GBP items are where it gets awkward: CIPS fees are paid from your own CIPS account by card, so agree in advance whether the company reimburses you, gives you a corporate card or expects you to carry it. Ask about clawback clauses too. Some employers want the money back if you leave within a year or two of finishing.
A practical tip from our advisors: present the request to your manager module by module rather than as one large figure. Eight small approvals across eighteen months are easier to say yes to than one large one, and it mirrors how CIPS itself bills you.
Ways to keep the total down
- Pass first time. Every resit is another exam fee in GBP, so follow a structured plan like the one in our article on passing the CIPS exam on your first attempt.
- Start at the right level. If you are eligible for Level 4, skipping Level 3 saves an entire level of tuition and five exam fees.
- Buy study guides selectively and share the planning with colleagues who are studying at the same time.
Whether the total makes sense for you depends on your salary band and where you want to work next. We look at that honestly in Is CIPS worth it in Egypt?, and the rest of the series sits on our CIPS guides for Egypt hub.
Frequently asked questions
How much does CIPS Level 4 cost in total in Egypt?
Plan for roughly EGP 125,000 to 175,000 at the time of writing: EGP 62,300 for live online tuition with Blue Ocean, plus CIPS exam fees for eight modules that work out to very roughly EGP 60,000 to 100,000 at current rates, plus annual CIPS student membership and any study guides. Exchange rate moves and resits change the total, so confirm the GBP figures on cips.org.
Is the Blue Ocean CIPS price shown in Egyptian pounds?
Yes. Visitors from Egypt see the course page in EGP, and the Level 4 tuition is EGP 62,300 live online or classroom at the time of writing. The price is for tuition only; membership and exam fees are paid separately to CIPS.
Do I pay CIPS in EGP or in GBP?
In GBP. CIPS student membership, module registration and exam fees are paid by card through your own CIPS account. Ask your bank to enable international online payments before you register, and expect a small foreign currency margin on each transaction.
What does a CIPS exam resit cost in Egypt?
You pay that module's exam fee again, roughly GBP 100 to 200 at the time of writing depending on whether it is an objective or constructed response module, which is about EGP 6,500 to 13,000 at current rates. There is no separate resit penalty that we are aware of, so the best saving is simply to pass first time.
Are there renewal fees after I finish CIPS Level 4?
The diploma itself does not expire, so there is nothing to renew for the qualification. If you want to keep CIPS membership and later work toward MCIPS, you pay the annual membership and keep up CPD. Check the current membership rules on cips.org before letting membership lapse between levels.
