A CIPS course in Qatar costs USD 2,000 per level for live online tuition, so the fee does not choose your level for you. Your role does: start with CIPS Level 4: Diploma in Procurement and Supply if you already buy or source, or with CIPS Level 3: Advanced Certificate in Procurement and Supply Operations if you are newer to purchasing.

What does a CIPS course in Qatar cost?

Live online tuition at Blue Ocean is USD 2,000 for CIPS Level 3, Level 4 or Level 5. The tuition does not include the exam, and CIPS sets its own exam fee, so confirm that amount on the CIPS site before you budget.

The three levels cost the same, so decide by your entry route and your role. If you want a program with a stated study load, Certified International Procurement Professional lists about 48 hours of study and Certified International Procurement Manager about 45 hours. Live online is USD 1,500 for each, and an advisor should confirm the format with you.

To study with other people in Qatar, ask an advisor about arranging a class. You can also study at a Blue Ocean office in Dubai, Abu Dhabi or Riyadh.

What is CIPS certification?

CIPS is the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply, a UK body that awards procurement qualifications. The Level 4 Diploma in Procurement and Supply has eight modules.

  • L4M1 Scope and Influence of Procurement and Supply
  • L4M2 Defining Business Needs
  • L4M3 Commercial Contracting
  • L4M4 Ethical and Responsible Sourcing
  • L4M5 Commercial Negotiation
  • L4M6 Supplier Relationships
  • L4M7 Whole Life Asset Management
  • L4M8 Procurement and Supply in Practice

Who is a CIPS program for in Qatar, and who should skip it?

A CIPS program suits people whose job is buying, sourcing, contracting or supplier management. It does not suit you if you want one narrow skill or a course with a fixed study load, because the CIPS levels are qualifications with exams.

If you work on government tenders, Qatar Law No. 24 of 2015 regulates tenders and auctions, so learn its rules for your own work first. The Level 4 modules include L4M3 Commercial Contracting.

If you are Qatari and work in the private sector, Law No. 12 of 2024 requires employers to train Qatari staff, so ask your employer whether a CIPS level can sit inside your training plan.

How does the CIPS exam work in Qatar?

CIPS exams are booked through CIPS and sat at Pearson VUE test centers or remotely, in scheduled exam windows. Confirm current availability with CIPS before you pick a study plan.

On the Level 4 Diploma, the core modules are 3 hour constructed response exams. The other modules are 1.5 hour objective response exams. Check with CIPS which modules are core, then plan the 3 hour exams around your work schedule.

Can you start with CIPS Level 4, or do you need Level 3?

CIPS sets the entry rule for Level 4: Level 3, two A levels or equivalent, or relevant experience. Two years of procurement experience is common. Confirm the rule with CIPS, because it can change.

  • Level 3 Advanced Certificate: 5 modules, entry level.
  • Level 5 Advanced Diploma: 8 modules, and it needs Level 4.
  • Level 6 Professional Diploma: leads to MCIPS with 3 years of experience.

How do the CIPS levels fit together for a Qatar career plan?

The CIPS levels form a ladder: Level 3 is entry level, Level 4 asks for Level 3, two A levels or equivalent, or relevant experience, Level 5 needs Level 4, and Level 6 leads to MCIPS. CIPS lists more than one route into Level 4, so check which one you meet.

That matters if you already work in procurement in Qatar. CIPS lists relevant experience as an entry route to Level 4, and two years of procurement experience is common. If you are unsure you meet it, check with CIPS and compare Level 3. Level 6 leads to MCIPS with 3 years of experience, so keep records of your roles as you go.

Your own timetable should decide when you take each level. Ask an advisor how long each level takes before you commit to a sequence.

Questions to settle before you pay

Settle these points first, because each one changes which level you buy and when you sit it.

  1. Do you meet the Level 4 entry rule, or should you begin at Level 3?
  2. What is the current CIPS exam fee, and when is the next exam window?
  3. Will you sit exams at a Pearson VUE test center or remotely?
  4. Is your employer paying? If so, send a corporate enquiry.
  5. Which format fits you: live online, a class an advisor can try to arrange in Qatar, or an office in Dubai, Abu Dhabi or Riyadh?

Three ways to study from Qatar

  • Online: self paced, or live online classes with an instructor.
  • In a class arranged locally: ask an advisor about arranging a class in Qatar.
  • At a Blue Ocean office: Dubai, Abu Dhabi or Riyadh.
