Is CLTD the right credential for a logistics job in Dubai?
CLTD fits you if your work is moving, storing or distributing goods rather than buying or planning across the whole supply chain. The exam topics include transportation, inventory and warehouse management.
Dubai gives these roles a clear setting. Transport and storage represented 12.4% of Dubai's GDP in the first nine months of 2024, according to the Dubai Media Office. Dubai Law No. 4 of 2023 set up the Dubai Ports Authority to regulate, operate and manage ports and handling terminals, including Port Rashid, Al Hamriya and Jebel Ali. And Jafza, at Jebel Ali, reports more than 11,000 businesses from over 100 countries. If your job touches any of this, note that transportation, global logistics and order management are CLTD exam topics.
The program lists these roles as a fit:
- Logistics and supply chain professionals
- Transportation and distribution managers
- Warehouse and inventory specialists
- Freight and operations coordinators
Who should choose something other than CLTD?
Look at other programs if your role is mostly buying, sourcing or end to end supply chain planning, or if you do not yet meet the CLTD eligibility rules.
- Supply chain role: Certified Supply Chain Professional is an ASCM credential, AED 16,800 live online, and the program suits procurement and sourcing specialists as well as logistics and operations managers.

- Warehouse focus: Certified International Warehouse and Inventory Manager lists about 46 hours of study. Ask an advisor which format is available.
- Planning and distribution roles: Mastering Logistics and Transportation is a self paced program at AED 2,199 for supply chain planners, demand and inventory planners, and warehouse and distribution managers. The course page lists about 45 hours of study.
What are the CLTD eligibility rules?
ASCM accepts three years of related business experience, or a bachelor's degree, or an active approved certification. You need only one of the three.
That makes the route open to a warehouse supervisor with three years of related experience and to a bachelor's degree holder who has just started in a freight office. These are ASCM's rules and they can change, so check the current wording on the ASCM site before you enroll. If none of the three applies to you today, build experience first, or ask an advisor which program in the previous section fits you now.
What does the CLTD exam cover and how is it taken?
The CLTD exam has 150 questions and lasts 3.5 hours. Scores are scaled from 200 to 350 and the pass mark is 300.
Pearson VUE delivers the exam, at a test center or online proctored. Check the ASCM and Pearson VUE locator for what is available to you at the time you book. The content areas are:
- Logistics overview and strategy
- Capacity planning and demand management
- Order management

- Logistics network design
- Reverse logistics and sustainability
Once you hold the credential, ASCM's rule is 75 points every 5 years to maintain it. Confirm the current point rules with ASCM.
