The short answer
Supply chain improvement work uses two toolkits that are often confused. Lean Six Sigma tells you how to remove waste and variation from a process you already have. SCOR tells you what the processes are, how to measure them and how you compare with others. If your job is to make a warehouse, a transport lane or a planning cycle run better, start with Lean Supply Chain. If your job is to define, measure and benchmark the chain before deciding what to fix, start with SCOR. If procurement is your process, Lean Procurement Excellence. If you are new to all of it, the Fundamentals course first. All four are self-paced programmes with Blue Ocean certificates of completion; none is a designation.
Two toolkits, one job
A continuous-improvement lead in an Indian manufacturer or 3PL is asked, in effect, two questions a month: "why does this take so long and cost so much" and "how good are we, really". Lean Six Sigma answers the first with value stream maps, waste walks, root-cause tools and Kaizen events. SCOR answers the second with a standard vocabulary for plan, source, make, deliver and return (and, in the Digital Standard, orchestrate), a hierarchy of performance attributes and metrics, and benchmarks that let you say "our perfect order fulfilment is in the bottom quartile" rather than "customers complain". The best process people use both: SCOR to decide where to look, Lean to fix what they find.
Mastering Lean Supply Chain (50 hours)
An introduction to Lean Six Sigma in supply chain management; the origins and evolution of Lean from the Toyota Production System to the global supply chain; supply chain fundamentals and the process view; Lean principles applied to supply chains; identifying and eliminating the eight wastes in logistics and operations; core Lean tools for supply chain improvement; value stream mapping and flow design for end-to-end chains; building a culture of continuous improvement with Kaizen, Gemba and standard work; and the Six Sigma side of reducing variation and using data. The outcomes the course states: eliminate waste, reduce process variation, optimise workflows and drive continuous improvement across supply chain operations. The longest course in this set, and the one to take if "improvement" is in your job title. Course page.
Mastering SCOR (45 hours)
The SCOR Digital Standard from the ground up: the origins and purpose of the framework; its structure and components; SCOR performance, with attributes, metrics and benchmarking; SCOR processes as the end-to-end activities of the chain; SCOR practices for excellence; SCOR people, covering skills, experience and talent development; applying the framework through case studies and scenarios; related standards and assessments; and the SCOR transformation learning path. For analysts, planners and managers who need a structured way into SCOR-based transformation. Course page. The credential-level view of SCOR is on the SCOR explainer, and ASCM's own transformation designation, CTSC, is grounded in the same standard.
Mastering Lean Procurement Excellence (46 hours)
Lean applied to the one process every company has and few have mapped: the origins and philosophy of Lean thinking; Lean versus traditional procurement; identifying waste in over-processing, delays and approvals; waste from excess inventory and poor planning; supplier inefficiencies; procurement value stream mapping; locating bottlenecks; 5S in procurement environments; standardisation; Kaizen; visual management and KPIs. For procurement teams, category managers and process-improvement professionals. Course page. The wider strategic procurement set is in strategic sourcing and vendor management courses in India.
Supply Chain Management Fundamentals (47 hours)
The foundation course for people entering the chain or moving into it from another function, built around the SCOR structure: what supply chain management is, the structure of a chain, logistics and distribution, inventory and warehousing, procurement and supplier relationships, planning, forecasting and S&OP, technology, global trade and sustainability. Take it before the improvement courses if you have not worked across the chain; it is also the first step in how to start a career in supply chain. Course page.
A sequence for process-improvement roles
- New to the chain: Fundamentals, then Lean Supply Chain.
- Continuous-improvement or operational excellence role: Lean Supply Chain, then SCOR to add measurement and benchmarking.
- Supply chain analyst or planner asked to lead a transformation: SCOR first, then Lean for the fixes it reveals; consider ASCM's CTSC later.
- Procurement process owner: Lean Procurement Excellence, then SCOR if the remit widens.
"SCOR certification": the honest answer
People search for "SCOR certification". Our SCOR course is a self-paced programme with a Blue Ocean certificate of completion; it teaches the framework and prepares you to use it. It is not an ASCM endorsement or designation, and we do not describe it as one. If you need an ASCM credential built on SCOR, the transformation designation CTSC is the one; the SCOR explainer sets out the distinction.
Delivery in India
All four courses are self-paced with the guided hours shown, so the content is the same wherever you are in India. Advisors are available in person at our New Delhi, Noida, Pune, Hyderabad and Kochi centres. Tuition is shown in Indian rupees on the course pages for visitors in India. Operational-excellence teams take Lean Supply Chain and SCOR together through corporate training in India.
Frequently asked questions
Is there a SCOR certification in India? Our SCOR course is a programme with a certificate of completion, not an ASCM endorsement or designation. ASCM's CTSC designation is grounded in the SCOR Digital Standard.
What is the difference between Lean and SCOR? Lean Six Sigma removes waste and variation from existing processes; SCOR defines the processes, their metrics and benchmarks. Improvement teams use both.
Which course should a continuous-improvement lead take? Mastering Lean Supply Chain first, then SCOR for measurement and benchmarking.
Do I need Six Sigma certification before the Lean Supply Chain course? No. The course introduces Lean Six Sigma from first principles.
Are these courses online? Yes. All four are self-paced.
