Logistics and Shipping Courses in Egypt: Certifications, Prices in EGP and Careers

Read this page in Arabic: اقرأ بالعربية

Egypt sits on one of the busiest trade routes in the world, and the logistics sector around it keeps growing: container terminals at Alexandria, Dekheila, Damietta and East Port Said, the industrial and logistics zones at Ain Sokhna, the cargo village at Cairo International Airport, and hundreds of freight forwarders, shipping agencies and customs brokers in between. The people who do well in this sector understand documents, vessels, Incoterms, dangerous goods rules and customer service at the same time.

This page is our Egypt guide to the logistics and shipping programs at Blue Ocean Academy: the ASCM Certified in Logistics, Transportation and Distribution (CLTD), the CILT International Certificate and Diploma in Logistics and Transport, the IPSCMI shipping and freight forwarding certification, and the self paced Mastering Business Excellence courses on freight forwarding, port operations, containerisation and IMDG. The table below lists every course with its Egypt price in EGP as shown on the course page at the time of writing.

Below the table: who these courses are for in Egypt, how to choose between a certification and a short course, formats and pricing, what job postings show for pay, and how to enrol.

Who takes logistics and shipping courses in Egypt

Three groups make up most of our Egyptian logistics learners. The first is operations staff at freight forwarders, shipping line agencies, customs brokers and 3PL warehouses in Alexandria and Cairo: documentation clerks, operations coordinators, customer service officers and junior pricing staff who want to move to supervisor or manager. The second is transport and fleet staff at manufacturers, retailers and delivery companies in Greater Cairo, 6th of October and 10th of Ramadan, who need a formal grounding in distribution planning. The third is graduates, often from the maritime and logistics faculties in Alexandria and Port Said, who want a credential that helps them stand out at a port operator, a terminal or an international forwarder.

The Suez Canal Economic Zone deserves a special mention. The terminals and industrial parks at Ain Sokhna and East Port Said are hiring planners, port operations supervisors and dangerous goods specialists, and employers there tend to look for international certificates because their customers and parent companies are international.

Certification, diploma or short course

  • CLTD from ASCM is the strongest credential for people who run or plan to run distribution, transport and warehousing for a manufacturer or retailer. Our CLTD guides for Egypt explain eligibility, exam and cost in detail.
  • CILT International Certificate and Diploma are the natural choice for people in freight forwarding, shipping and transport operations who want a recognised qualification in stages. The CILT guides for Egypt cover both levels; the International Diploma in Logistics and Transport is listed at EGP 71,500 live online at the time of writing.
  • Short self paced courses fix one gap at a time. Mastering Freight Forwarding at EGP 30,599 is the one we recommend most to new forwarding staff; Fundamentals of IMDG at the same price is for anyone who books or handles dangerous goods by sea. Fundamentals of Shipping is free at the time of writing and is the right first step if you are new to the industry.

If you are unsure, ask yourself what your manager would need to see to promote you. In forwarding and shipping agencies it is usually CILT. In manufacturing and retail distribution it is usually CLTD. In both cases, a short course first does no harm and often makes the certification easier.

Formats and pricing in EGP

Self paced courses are recorded and start the day you enrol, with the access period shown on the course page. Live online programs run with an instructor over video, typically in the evening on Cairo time so that people working port and office shifts can attend, with recordings available. Classroom batches run at our New Cairo office in the Fifth Settlement when enough learners in Greater Cairo register for the same program; learners in Alexandria and the canal zone usually choose live online.

Prices on the course pages are in EGP for visitors from Egypt and reflect any discount applied at the time of writing. Each course page states what the fee covers. For CLTD and the CILT programs it includes the course, the exam and the certification fee; ASCM's own fees in US dollars apply only if you study on your own and pay ASCM directly, while retakes, maintenance and optional ASCM or CILT membership are separate. Prices can change, so confirm the current EGP figure before you budget.

Employer sponsorship is very common in this sector. Forwarders, shipping lines, terminal operators and manufacturers regularly fund CILT and CLTD for staff they want to retain, and we issue quotations and tax invoices addressed to the employer. Group pricing is available when several colleagues join the same batch.

Careers and salaries in Egypt

The figures below describe what job postings in Egypt typically show at the time of writing; actual offers vary by company, city and language skills. Logistics coordinator, documentation and operations roles at forwarders and agencies in Alexandria and Cairo are commonly advertised at EGP 10,000 to 20,000 per month. Customs clearance specialists, operations supervisors and transport planners with a few years of experience generally see EGP 18,000 to 35,000. Logistics managers at manufacturers, 3PLs and terminal operators are often in the range of EGP 40,000 to 80,000, and country or regional logistics heads can exceed EGP 90,000. International forwarders and terminal operators in the canal zone usually pay toward the top of each range, and strong English plus a recognised certificate is what most often moves a candidate from the lower band to the upper one.

How to enrol and talk to our Cairo advisors

  1. Use our enquiry form or call the New Cairo office and tell us your current role, employer type and target role.
  2. An advisor recommends a program and format, usually the same working day, and sends a quotation in EGP for you or your employer.
  3. After payment you receive self paced access immediately or a seat in the next live online or classroom batch.
  4. For CILT and CLTD we guide you through registration and exam booking with the awarding body.

If your work is more about planning, inventory and suppliers than ships and trucks, our Supply Chain Courses in Egypt page is the better starting point.

Frequently asked questions

Which logistics certification do employers in Egypt recognise most?

In freight forwarding, shipping agencies and port operations, CILT qualifications are the most widely known. In manufacturing and retail distribution, the ASCM CLTD carries more weight. Both are also recognised by Gulf employers, which matters for Egyptians planning a regional move.

Can I study logistics in Alexandria or Port Said rather than Cairo?

Yes. All certification programs run live online with an instructor, and the self paced courses can be taken anywhere. Classroom batches run only at our New Cairo office when scheduled, so learners in Alexandria and the canal zone usually choose live online.

Is there a free shipping course to start with?

At the time of writing, Fundamentals of Shipping and Mastering Ethics in Shipping are free self paced courses. They are a sensible first step before paying for a certificate.

How long does the CILT International Diploma take?

It depends on the batch schedule and your pace, but most of our Egyptian learners complete the live online diploma over several months of evening classes plus assignments. Our advisors share the current schedule when you enquire.

Will a logistics course help me work for a Gulf airline or port?

It often does. CILT and CLTD are requested in many Gulf job postings for logistics and port roles, and a recognised certificate alongside solid English is what most Egyptian candidates need to be shortlisted.
