What does the CIPP exam involve?

The IPSCMI exam for Certified International Procurement Professional has 80 multiple choice questions over 3 hours. It is administered through Blue Ocean Academy at the end of the program.

That works out at a little over two minutes a question. Practice in timed blocks of questions so the 3 hours feel familiar before you sit it.

IPSCMI, the International Purchasing and Supply Chain Management Institute in the USA, awards the certificate. Blue Ocean Academy runs the course and administers the exam.

How do you fit CIPP study around a job in Dubai?

The course page lists about 48 hours of study for Certified International Procurement Professional. Count the hours you can protect each week, then ask an advisor how the live online format fits them.

If you buy for a Government of Dubai entity, Dubai Law No. 12 of 2020 applies to you. It sets contract and warehouse rules and tasks the Department of Finance with a manual for purchases and inventory. The CIPP is an international procurement certification, so note where your entity's rules and the international practice you study differ.

The same law provides for a Central Register of Suppliers inside the government electronic system, with entities entering the supplier data. If supplier records are part of your job, use your own purchasing cases, with confidential details removed, as study examples.

Federal purchasing follows a separate rulebook: the Ministry of Finance issues the Digital Procurement policy, which sets guidelines and controls for purchasing by all federal entities and their suppliers. If your suppliers also serve federal buyers, read it alongside the Dubai law.

Who is eligible for CIPP certification in Dubai?

IPSCMI sets entry at an associate degree or more than three years of purchasing or supply chain experience. Confirm the current rule with IPSCMI, because awarding bodies can change it.

  • You hold an associate degree or higher: you meet the entry rule on education.
  • You have more than three years in purchasing or supply chain work: you meet it on experience.
  • You hold neither yet: speak to an advisor before you enroll, so you start on the right program.

CIPP is aimed at professionals with some procurement or supply chain exposure, and graduates with relevant roles also enroll. Wholesale and retail trade contributed 24.5% of Dubai's GDP in the first nine months of 2024, according to the Dubai Media Office. If you buy goods for resale, buyer and purchasing officer are roles CIPP is aimed at.

How much does CIPP cost in Dubai, and which format should you pick?

Live online for Certified International Procurement Professional costs AED 4,400. Ask an advisor which format is available for this course.

The exam is separate from the course fee, so ask an advisor what it costs.

Ask an advisor about arranging a class if you would rather study in a room than online. An advisor can tell you whether a class can be arranged.

Which program fits your role: CIPP, CIPM, contracts, audit or CIPS?

Start with the program that matches the job you hold today. IPSCMI sets the path as CIPP, then CIPM at manager level, then CIPC at consultant level.

If you manage a procurement team, compare CIPM, the manager level that follows CIPP. If you have neither the degree nor more than three years in the field, you do not meet the entry rule yet.

Before you enroll from Dubai

Confirm that you meet the IPSCMI entry rule, then settle the format with an advisor, then enquire.

  1. Check your degree or your years of purchasing or supply chain work against the IPSCMI entry rule, and confirm the current rule with IPSCMI.
  2. The course page lists about 48 hours of study, so ask an advisor which format is available and how it fits your work calendar.
  3. Read the Certified International Procurement Professional course page for the roles it suits, then ask an advisor what the exam costs.
  4. Send an enquiry with your job title and your qualifications.
  5. If your employer is paying for a team, use the corporate enquiry instead.
