The short answer

Start with Procurement Management Fundamentals if you are new to procurement or have bought for years without the method; it gives you the whole lifecycle in 46 self-paced hours. Take Ethics in Procurement and Supply Chain alongside it, not later, because a buyer signs for the company's money from the first week and the risks are not theoretical in India. Both are Foundation-level programmes with Blue Ocean certificates of completion. When you are ready for a credential, the IPSCMI and CIPS routes are linked at the end.

Why ethics comes first in procurement

Most training sequences put ethics last, as a compliance module after the skills. Procurement is the function where that order is backwards. The person raising a purchase order on their third day is already exposed to a supplier's hospitality, to a specification written to favour one vendor, to a conflict of interest nobody declared, and to a sustainability claim nobody checked. In India, where the Prevention of Corruption Act and company codes of conduct both apply and where supply chains reach into informal labour, the exposure is real and early. Teaching the lifecycle without the ethics that governs each step produces competent buyers who do not see the risk until it has a name. So we put the two courses on one page and recommend them as a pair.

Procurement Management Fundamentals (46 hours)

The evolution and strategic role of procurement; procurement as a strategic function; the procurement lifecycle; crafting effective specifications; make-or-buy and demand management decisions; category management and spend analysis; strategic sourcing approaches; supplier evaluation and total cost of ownership; negotiation and contract management; managing supplier relationships and performance; procurement risk management and supply continuity; and ethics, ESG and governance. For new procurement professionals, business teams and managers who need a clear foundation. It is the course we recommend first in how to start a career in procurement. Course page.

Mastering Ethics in Procurement and Supply Chain (46 hours)

Orientation and a code of ethics as the foundation; moral philosophy and the business case for procurement ethics; what ethical procurement is and why it matters; the global governance landscape of standards, frameworks and regulation; environmental procurement strategies and impacts; sustainable sourcing, net zero and the circular economy; human rights and modern slavery in supply chains; social value, diversity and inclusive supplier development; corruption in procurement, due diligence, culture and the legal frame; and the practical handling of conflicts of interest, gifts and whistleblowing. For procurement, sourcing, supplier-management and supply chain professionals, and for the compliance and ESG staff who need to understand what a buyer actually faces. Course page.

What comes after

Once the lifecycle and the ethics are in place, the credentials. The IPSCMI route begins with CIPP and continues to CIPM: CIPP vs CIPM in India. The CIPS route begins at Level 3 for operational roles or Level 4 with two years of business experience: CIPS Level 4 Diploma in India. The comparison between them is in procurement certification in India. For the strategic layer (category management, sourcing strategy, supplier and vendor management), see strategic sourcing and vendor management courses; for the contracting side, contract management courses in India.
