Should you take a PMP course or a shorter program in the UAE?
Take the Project Management Professional course if you already work as a project manager, team leader or coordinator and want the PMI credential. Take a shorter program if you want to study one topic, such as risk or scheduling.
- PMP course: Executive level, live online, AED 5,700. It suits project managers, associate and assistant project managers, team leaders and team managers, project coordinators and project executives.
- Shorter programs: Foundation or Professional level and self paced, with the hours listed on each course page. The Professional programs named here are AED 2,199, and Fundamentals of Project Management and Mastering Ethics in Project Management are free.
PMI awards the PMP credential. The exam is separate from the course fee, so ask an advisor what it costs. PMI's requirements can change, so confirm them on PMI's own site before you commit. If you want to study in person, ask an advisor whether a class can be arranged locally or whether you can study at a Blue Ocean office in Dubai or Abu Dhabi.

- Running a PMO or portfolio: Mastering Program, Portfolio and PMO Leadership, about 47 hours of study, and Mastering Strategic Project Management, about 46 hours of study.
The two leadership programs are written for PMO leaders, portfolio managers, program managers and senior project managers. If you are still coordinating tasks, look at Mastering Project Planning & Scheduling Mastery instead.

Working on energy, infrastructure or transport projects in the UAE?
If your projects sit in those sectors, two programs are named for cost and risk. The Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure covers the energy, infrastructure, housing and transport sectors, and it was formed by merging earlier ministries and bodies.
Mastering Cost, Budget & Procurement Management and Mastering Risk Management for Projects are the two to compare first, and each course page lists the roles it suits.
Is there a free project management course in the UAE?
Yes. Fundamentals of Project Management and Mastering Ethics in Project Management are both free and self paced, with about 48 and 47 hours of study.
They do different jobs. Fundamentals is for students, early career professionals, project coordinators and team members. Ethics is for people already in charge: project managers, program managers, PMO professionals and project leaders. Take Fundamentals first if you have not managed a project, and Ethics if you have.
