Where do I start with soft skills training in UAE?
Start with the skill that holds you back most often at work, then match it to one course. The courses named here fall into three groups: communication, leadership and job search.
- Communication. Business Communication Essentials suits client facing account managers, customer service professionals, team leaders and executive assistants. Impactful Communication Essentials suits managers, project coordinators and technical specialists moving into wider roles. Mastering Business Writing suits executives, assistants, and sales and bid teams.
- Leadership. Leadership Essentials suits first time and emerging managers, and experienced team leaders and supervisors. Mastering Emotional Intelligence suits managers, HR professionals, and healthcare and education staff.
- Job search. Resume Building Essentials, Mastering Group Discussions and Career Development Essentials are covered in the next section.
Which course should I take before a job search or interview?
Take Resume Building Essentials for your application and Mastering Group Discussions for selection days. Add Career Development Essentials if you are changing direction.
Resume Building Essentials suits graduates, experienced professionals preparing a move, and managers and executives updating senior applications. Mastering Group Discussions suits graduates preparing for assessment centers, applicants to graduate schemes and internships, and management trainees. Career Development Essentials suits early career graduates entering the labor market and professionals planning a deliberate career change.
What support exists if I am an Emirati job seeker?
Nafis, launched on 12 September 2021, is a federal program that strengthens the competitiveness of Emirati talent and helps citizens join the private sector. Check your own eligibility with Nafis, and choose a course for one specific gap, such as your CV or an assessment center.
If you are applying to private sector companies, note that a UAE Cabinet decision requires private sector companies with 50 or more employees to raise the Emirati share of their skilled jobs by 2 percent each year, for an overall 10 percent increase by 2026, so include companies of that size on your application list.
How many hours and what fee should I plan for?
The course page lists about 45 hours of study for most of the courses named here, and about 46 hours for Mastering Train the Trainer. Fees come in two levels.
Courses named Essentials, such as Leadership Essentials, are AED 399 self paced. Several Mastering courses, such as Mastering Presentation Skills, are AED 2,199 self paced. The exam is separate from the course fee, and an advisor can tell you how the hours fit around your job. If you are undecided between a self paced course at AED 399 and one at AED 2,199, compare the lists of roles on the two course pages and pick the one that names your role.
Which program fits my role?
Match the sentence that sounds most like your week, and start with that course only.
- You manage people for the first time: Leadership Essentials. Its list of roles also names client facing account and relationship managers.
- You present to clients or senior audiences: Mastering Presentation Skills, which suits sales, consulting and marketing staff. For written work, look at Mastering Business Writing instead.
- You teach or coach colleagues: Mastering Train the Trainer, which suits corporate trainers and L&D and HR professionals. It does not suit you if you never train anyone. To ask about a group, use the corporate enquiry page.
- You are applying for jobs: Resume Building Essentials, then Mastering Group Discussions if selection days are ahead.
- You are preparing for senior or board facing responsibility: Mastering Confident Thinking, which suits early career professionals, mid career specialists and managers preparing for senior and board facing roles.
